Mrs. Davidson tilted her head to get a better look at the house. It was in the older neighborhood, but it was cute in its own way. Even at night you could see its charm. The peeling paint, rusted toys laying outside, and even the cracked sidewalk made it look familiar. It looked like the house she grew up in.
"The campaign has been nice I just miss you I suppose."
Realizing she was still on the phone the blonde cleared her throat and placed her phone back up to her ear. "Thank you. I'll talk to you later Jerry."Hanging up and looking at the time she got out of the car and snuck up to the side of the house. She hadn't heard any activity in a while since she noticed Casey's mom leave for work. From what she gathered she had the night shift at the emergency center. How noble.
Walking though the back door quietly Mrs. Davidson smiled at her own luck and snuck through the kitchen to grab a water. Stopping when she heard voices she listened closer realizing Casey and Lea were still in the house. "She'll never forgive us if we tell the police."
There was a pause.
"And even if we did go to the police, we have no proof of anything."
"I do have one thing." Lea commented.
Mrs. Davidson leaned against the orange wall while she waited for the shuffling of papers to stop.
"I have a receipt I stole from Brooke that proves she was at the club with Mrs. Davidson."
Rolling her eyes, the older woman looked around the quaint living room. It wasn't the cleanest which made her smile. Brooke probably hated coming over here. Letting her finger linger on the TV stand, she looked at her finger and observed the dust. Grabbing the remote control and sitting down in the recliner Mrs. Davidson crossed her legs and turned on the TV. Of course the first thing that popped up was the news. She hated the news.
"Mom?" Casey yelled from her room.
Both girls hid away the papers they were looking at and cautiously walked down the stairs. It was completely dark except for the TV that flashed around. It's light aluminated off of the figure who rocked in the old black chair.
"What the fuck are you doing in my house?" Casey spat grabbing the baseball bat that her mom kept at the back door.
Mrs. Davidson shrugged not taking her eyes off of the TV. There were thunderstorms rolling in next week. They would probably have to cancel the track meets.
"What do you want?" Lea asked crossing her arms. She hated the way she looked. Her smug pretty face rested in the perfect body that dressed in beautiful white clothes. Her heels were spotless and her hair curled perfectly. She was so good looking that it didn't take much for her to be intimidating.
"Listen you crazy white bitch, if you don't explain yourself I'm calling the cops!"
"I wouldn't do that; I can smell the weed from here. If I remember correctly that's still illegal in Texas." The blonde turned her head slowly and tapped her fingers on the leather. "We would be sharing a prison cell."
The two girls held their tongues as they watched the older woman scratch her head and look around some more.
"I have a great opportunity for the two of you." Getting up and walking over Mrs. Davidson stopped when she realized she towered over them in her heels. Looking down she smirked. "There's a new app that's looking for pretty faces." Brushing past them and taking a picture off of the wall she examined how much Casey looked like her mother. "I can fly you out tomorrow."
"No way in-"
"Where too?" Casey interrupted putting the baseball bat down.
Looking up surprised Mrs. Davidson smiled, "Malibu."
Lea sighed and closed her eyes.
"I'm so glad you are on board." Taking some papers out of her pocket, she handed them to Casey. "Just a friendly business plan from the Davidson family. Vote for Jerry."She laughed at her own joke and set the picture back on the wall."What do you say Lea?"
Shaking her head, the girl crossed her arms and tried to think what the best option would be. She was dangerous, but she also knew her family would be in danger if she said no. She loved Brooke, since the day she laid eyes on her but she didn't feel the same so there was no need to try to protect someone who didn't want protecting. Holding her hand out she squinted her eyes seeing the older woman smile and dig for the other papers.
"We were going to turn you into the police." Lea whispered taking the tickets.
"I heard." Mrs. Davidson straightened her white jacket. "I hope you decide against that."
"Why aren't you more afraid?" Casey wondered out loud."We have so much shit against you."
"Sweetie I don't think you realize how powerful I am." Walking towards them again she looked between the two girls and held their chins in her fingertips. They were pretty in their own ways but their personalities muted how simple they were. "I can fucking kill both of you with the pistol in my pocket, burn this house down, sell your mothers to a whore house and I would still walk away with zero consequences with Brooke still wrapped around my waist." Pushing their heads away Mrs. Davidson looked at her phone seeing her husband text her a stupid picture she would probably never look at.
"Why Brooke?"
The blonde but her lip and winked "Why did you like her Lea?"
Casey looked over at her friend who shut her mouth tightly. She didn't even know Lea's feelings towards Brooke. It would explain a lot actually.
"She's special."
Nodding Mrs. Davidson let her blue eyes focus on Lea's brown ones. "A special girl like her deserves a person like me to take care of her."
"What if she doesn't feel the same way about you one day?" Casey asked folding her arms with a slight attitude.
Rolling her eyes the blonde realized how done she was with this conversation, "Then I will make sure I'm her only option."Taking a small bag with a thread sticking out she started searching drawers messily until she found some matches."I hope you two enjoy your flights tomorrow. "Lighting a match and putting the flame against the thread she threw the package on the ground and walked out the front door.
The girls, not knowing what the device was, ran up the stairs and crouched down only to see a small spark come out of the package and some smoke. Even in package form that woman was dramatic.
