Putting her diamond earring on Mrs. Davidson watched her husband pace around the bedroom through her mirror. She did not miss the way he threw himself around. He was not graceful at all. It made her think of the weekend when Brooke twirled around the room wearing her over sized T-shirt. After a hot shower and good meal. She had a huge smile that never left her face. Everything was graceful about her.
"We can work this out Sophie."
She didn't respond she just picked up her other earring.
"Baby, I love you. I wanted to have a family with you." He seemed desperate running his hand through his hair. Last night he thought it may have just been a cruel joke but when he saw the yellow folder with all the papers he released it was all so real.
Sighing she thought about how many times she told that man she did not want a family. Well, she thought she didn't, but then she imagined a life with Brooke and suddenly she saw children.
"We can go to therapy!" He walked over to her and laid his head on her shoulder. "What can I do?
"You can except it, Jerry." Shrugging him off and grabbing her jacket the blonde turned toward the defeated man. "I will be good and act like a happy wife for the last time today, but if you don't sign those papers I will take you to court."
"Take my money Sophie. Take all my fucking money, but there's nothing else you can do to me."
Raising one eyebrow she smiled, "You have a lot more to loose than paper." Leaving the room she opened the large front door and let her lips turn to a thin line when she saw all the news trucks waiting for them to come out. He had set up a press conference on their property to show how dedicated he was to small towns and values. It made her feel violated.
"Sophie Davidson!" A woman ran over holding a microphone out to her, "Do you agree with your husbands comments over Immigration?"
Forcing a smile, she tried not to slap Jerry's hand away as he came out and wrapped an arm around her hip. "We want to protect our American people first and foremost!" Pointing at another journalist Mrs. Davidson stopped listening to the questions and looked over at a car pull up. She smiled seeing Brooke step out from the passenger side. Her yellow dress flowed as she closed the door and looked around. They waved to each other slightly, and Mrs. Davidson sent a wink her way. She didn't even care about the cameras on her.
Brooke's father stepped out soon after with a worried look on his face. They went over to a tree where he seemed to want to tell her something.
"I'll be back." The blonde said out loud moving away from her husband and walking over the girl. Her and Brooke discussed the night before how odd her father was acting. The young girl wasn't stupid and knew something was going on, but Sophie was aware of how sensitive Brooke could be to change. She was an anxious girl with a lot on her mind.
He seemed disappointed to see his daughters teacher, but he rubbed his neck and looked down the road as if he was waiting for someone.
"You look beautiful Brooke."
The young girl smiled up at her teacher, "Your husband is quite the speaker."
"He's one of the best." Her dad said straightening his tie.
"I've seen better." Mrs. Davidson started shooting him icy eyes. Stopping herself from staring they turned their attention to another news van pull up and start making their way to the front porch where Jerry seemed very animated while he spoke. The last to leave the van, however, was a young girl with short hair and a very large smile.
"Kellie!" Jerry mirrored her smile and went to greet her.
"Well there it is." Mrs. Davidson whispered scooting over to stand beside her lover. Glancing down at her she could tell young girl's mind was working in over drive.
"Brooke, I want you to meet Kellie." Bringing her over the black haired girl reached out to shake hands.
Brooke looked down at the floating hand and tried reasoning within herself if the odd woman washed them regularly. "Your a journalist?"
The woman didn't seem shocked at her behavior and just giggled Placing her hanging hand on Jerry's chest, "Well that's what I'm going to school for."
Mrs. Davidson widened her eyes and let her eyebrows jump all the way up. "You're in college?"
She nodded and the blonde woman laughed awkwardly. "How bout that." Placing her hands on Brooke's shoulders to help her stay relaxed she realized she wasn't very calm herself. It's not everyday you hear your girlfriends dad's girlfriend is younger than you are.
"Your missing a button on your shirt."
Brooke pointed out blinking a couple of times.
"Honey, I was maybe just thinking us three could hang out tonight and discuss everything."
"We already have plans." Mrs. Davidson interrupted trying to save her.
"Big plans." Brooke added.
"Huge." She reached out and shook Kellie's hand, "It was very nice meeting you." Turning Brooke to make her face the other direction Mrs. Davidson laughed kindly."You two have a good day." She didn't know how bad she made the situation talking to her father that way but honestly she didn't care. Brooke Came first.
Walking away the two girls went to the back of the house where the people weren't allowed to go. It was silent other than nature, so Brooke found a spot on the patio and sat down.
The Texas heat was catching up to the both of them now. The brunettes neck glistened as she threw her head back and fanned herself. "She was missing a button. And she was wearing capris."
Leaning on the wall, the blonde watched her closely. "I know sweetie." She was glad the age fact wasn't brought up but It did bother her slightly.
Looking out at nothing, the young girl sighed, "I'm sorry people don't see you for you."
Furrowing her eyebrows Mrs. Davidson crossed her arms, "What do you mean?"
Her hair flowed slightly and she pushed it back. "You are afraid people will be horrible to you so you beat them to it." She looked over and smiled at the blonde. "I don't know who hurt you, but it made you very strong."
Walking over and sitting next to her the older woman bit her lip. "My parents were just rough. No elaborate backstory there."
"I really want to kiss you."
"We could have another round in the bathroom if you'd like." Mrs. Davidson laughed seeing the girl shake her head.
"You're lucky I love you or I wouldn't have done anything in a public bathroom." She got up and brushed herself off. "How about we go sneak around the house." Looking down at the woman who stared at her shocked Brooke glanced around worried. "What's wrong!"
"You-" she smiled. "You said you loved me."
Staring at each other for a few seconds Brooke stumbled on her words. "I- I uh."
Getting up quickly Mrs. Davidson didn't even bother to grab her jacket that had caught on a nail, It ripped completely off as She grabbed Brooke's face and kissed her hard. "I love you too."
