"I wouldn't give it much thought." Pauline waved off my comment and pulled her glasses down to try and read her computer.

Nodding I said nothing in return and listened to the hum of her desk fan. It was old and dusty but still worked very well, it made Pauline's short curly hair fly back whenever it turned towards her.

Clasping my hands together and letting my legs hang from the ripped leather couch I watched another student come out from the principals office and leave.

Once he did Pauline got up slowly and waved me over.

Confused I did as she was told and furrowed my eyebrows when she put her finger over mouth. Sitting down and breathing heavily from that sudden amount of work she threw off her glasses and gave me a folded piece of paper. "She can be a little mean so don't be afraid to come get me if it starts bothering you."

Surprised at what she said I nodded. Other students had many things to say about the secretive teacher but she didn't expect another staff member to have such opinions about her.

"She has this smile Brooke." Pausing she listened to students walk past the office and disappear down a hallway, "She's not from around here."

"Thank you." I whispered opening the paper and walking back to my backpack. Slinging it over my shoulder I read the map and followed it carefully. The school was built so oddly that finding a simple detached office was like trying to find a a treasure, nevertheless My heart was beating roughly. I didn't know why Mrs. Bradley has called me and I had no idea why everyone gave me that look when I told them about it. I suppose I would just have to find out.
