Looking out her large glass door Mrs. Davidson took a swig of her beer. Last week was her last day working in the school, so Brooke insisted they celebrate the new chapter in their life. Mother Nature even agreed and stopped the sky from raining for the day. The sun poked out and filled the backyard with warmth and light.

Putting the empty bottle on the cabinet and grabbing another bottle the blonde looked at the happy faces around the pool. Brooke lounged in the sun with Kellie on pool chairs, they talked and laughed and that was interesting to her. Brooke was so cooperative and sweet to someone most people wouldn't even want to be around. Kellie helped though, she was understanding and polite. So they got along just fine in the right climate.

Even Lea, who swam around the pool, was being a cooperative human. After they had their small talk Lea made up with Brooke and floated around like nothing had ever happened.

Finally opening the beer on the cabinet, the blonde took a deep breath and opened the glass door. She walked slowly over to the barbecue pit where Brooke's dad flipped over some steaks. "They smell good."

He smiled slightly but didn't say anything back. She could tell he didn't care for her very much. It was understandable, and she didn't really care but it was sad.

Staring at Brooke's curves that peeked through her outer mesh cover Mrs. Davidson smiled thinking about holding her hips "Can I do anything?"

"No I'm just finishing up."

Nodding Mrs. Davidson examined his features. Brooke did have some of the less obvious features like him, but in a lot of ways she didn't. Their noses were somewhat similar, but she imagined Brooke was a spitting image of her mother. Too bad she wouldn't be able to see.

"Your eye looks better." He whispered.

"It feels better too."

Putting the top of the grill down he sighed and crossed his arms, "Look at us, two candidates who are running against each other making dinner side by side."

Narrowing her eyes and giving a tight smile the blonde could sense his sarcasm.

Shaking his head, he rubbed his hand on his stubbly chin. "It was nice of you to take such good care of Brooke while I was gone."

"It was my pleasure." She whispered watching Brooke got up from her spot and grab a drink from the cooler, of course the drinks weren't put right so she started taking out all the drinks to put them back in an appropriate way. Standing straight up with the designated brand.

"I think after this we need to go separate ways."

Laughing slightly Mrs. Davidson drank her beer. She knew that was coming.

"This is serious." He turned towards her and furrowed his brows, "I know about you and I don't want my daughter to be around someone like you." He tried to be quite and respectful in his own way but she couldn't put up with that kind of ignorance. Brooke didn't need to be exposed to it and she didn't want to hear it.

"Because you think I'll turn your poor little innocent girl into a pussy eater?"

Getting into her face He growled angrily, "Stay away from her you pervert. I'll expose you and get you thrown out of the fucking race."

Stepping forward to be closer she smiled, "Because I'm sleeping with a younger girl? I think that would put you out of the race too buster."

Realizing what she said He watched her take another drink, "You bitch." Shaking his head, he watched that smug smile get bigger on her face, "You're fucking my daughter?" Pushing her back that caught the attention of the other three girls who started to run over.

The woman fell on the grass but her beer wasn't as lucky and crashed on the cement throwing glass everywhere.

"Ian Stop!" Kellie tried pulling him off, but he held onto the blonde woman angrily.

"I'll get you fucking arrested!"

Getting in the middle of the fight Brooke pushed her father away and stood in front of her girlfriend. "What are you doing?!"

"How long have you been with her?" He demanded, still staring at the blonde who got up slowly. He was ready to fight, but she only stood up and brushed the grass off of herself.

Breathing heavily it stayed silent for a few seconds. "Since last night."

"Bullshit. I'll have you fucking arrested!" He repeated pointing at the woman who only raised her eyebrows at his threats. "You were with a minor and with a student!"

"No she wasn't." Brooke whispered holding her hands out trying to keep the peace. "I'm 18 and we didn't start a relationship until I graduated and she wasn't employed."

Looking down at his daughter who he knew was lying he shook his head, "Brooke please."

"You can't prove anything different Dad."

Kellie still held onto Him, "Please stop Ian."

"We're leaving." Grabbing Brooke's arm he started pulling her away but was stopped when Mrs. Davidson ran in front of him. The steaks started smoking but no one dared to get them out.

She wanted to hit him into next year, tear his arm away and fly away like a Disney character holding Brooke in her arms but when she looked over to see her pleading lovers eyes she knew she had to better. "You are free to leave, but Brooke won't be told what to do. She is an adult."

Feeling his heart drop he let go of his daughters arm and stepped back. "Brooke, why would you do this?"

Opening her mouth slightly she sighed, "I didn't do anything wrong."

"You're with the woman who was married to my best friend. Who's twice your age, running against me, and was your teacher."

"I'm with this woman because she was there for me when you left me alone. She has proved time and time again that she loves me, but you can't except that because she's a woman?"

"No I can't." He shrugged his shoulders and teared up. Truest disappointed that his daughter didn't see what he saw. He wished her mother hadn't left years ago. He always felt like her leaving really messed his daughter up.

"We will see you at the press conferences." Moving around him, Brooke hugged the tall blonde woman and looked her over making sure her father didn't hurt her. Mrs. Davidson smiled down at her and only glanced up to see Ian shake his head and leave through the gate. "He's going to tell everyone." She whispered holding the blonde woman's face softly.

"I can leak some photos." Kellie offered tapping her foot nervously. "I took some of you two earlier."

"That's a good idea, write the article and make it look good." The blonde woman replied furrowing her browed. "You don't need to make him look bad though."

"You're not going with dad?" Brooke asked.

"I'm here for my career. Not for some old mans pleasure." She smiled.

Knowing all the dirty drama already Lea ignored the conversation and opened the barbecue pit. Coughing and waving the smoke away she backed up to stand with the other girls who stared at the smoking meat. "I'll order pizza."
