Taylor's POV

I took my phone from my pocket and answered the call without even a glance.

"Ye-llo?" I said, presuming it was Cris. I couldn't have been more wrong.

I bolted upright from my position at the side of Jack as the voice I'd heard far too much over the past week barked directly into my ear.

"Alice in Wonderland, my favourite too" I tried to speak but my mouth was dry; it felt like something was suffocating me. He carried on, "I think it's time to have a little catch up, don't you? I'm waiting outside in the blue car across the road. Tell you little friend that Cristina is having trouble with that terrible illness of her's and you need to go help her. Make sure you're alone; I'm not going to harm you but sadly I cannot promise the same for anyone who follows" and with that the line went dead. I knew for a fact everything he said was true; he would be waiting outside Jack's building, he wouldn't harm me (not massively anyway) he enjoyed messing with my head too much but most of all I knew he would hurt Jack if he came too and that's what I was scared of.

I rushed to get my shoes on, ignoring Jack's questions until I could think of a valid answer to tell him. On the way to the door I said, "Cris,, she's got coronary heart disease. I need to go now. I'm sorry, thank you for tonight"

"Wait I'll come with you" was his reply. I stopped walking and turned to face him.

"No" I looked at the floor

"I don't mind, I want to make sure she's okay" Why did he have to be so nice?

I sighed, thinking of the best was to say it. I looked up into his brown eyes

"Jack" I paused for a second  "Please. If you care about me at all you won't follow me tonight. I'll call you in the morning and we can go somewhere, just the two of us"  I just hoped he would listen, for his own sake.  "I shouldn't have dragged you into all of this" I said to myself. I reached up and rested my hand on his cheek, the whole time he just started at me looking so confused. I hated lying to him after he'd told me I could trust him with anything and I really believed him but I didn't want him to get hurt because of me, I wouldn't let him. I felt a tear run down my own cheek.

Before he had time to figure anything out and follow me I left. I was already half way to the lift when I heard the door slam shut. Alone in the dropping life, I checked my appearance in the mirrored wall and composed myself for what was about to come.

When I stepped out into the street, true to his word, there was a single blue car across the road. The walk to the passenger door seemed to take forever with a thousand different scenarios of what could happen churning through my head with every step I took. My hand stopped on the door handle every fiber of my body was screaming at me to run, run until my feet bled. Anything just to be a safe distance from the man who was staring straight at me.

I knew I wouldn't, though. And that's because if I did he wouldn't like that, not one bit. He'd want to get back at me the only way he he could. By hurting the ones I love and if going with him means they will stay safe then that is the option I will pick until the day I die.

I cautiously opened the door and sat in the cold leather seat.

"Taylor" he said

"Harry" I mimicked his voice

"Enjoy your little movie night?" he asked as he started the engine

"I did, thank you" I replied trying to show he wasn't getting to me although deep down we both knew he was.

"I thought we could go for a little drive" I didn't answer, I had nothing to say to him. "So, how have you been?" he asked the corner at the end of the road.
