"she's so cute!" jin coos, watching as the little girl in his lap played with the jewellery on his wrists. namjoon just watches in awe, not even bothering to say a single word.
namjoon's neighbour, soojin - who he knew quite well - had asked last minute if namjoon was free to babysit for the day, since she had a date to go on and clearly couldn't take her child along. he obviously accepted, and throughout the whole day so far, both him and jin were stuck babysitting her daughter, sumi. it honestly wasn't too bad, seeing that they both loved kids. they had no plans for the day either, so this at least gave them something to do. plus, soojin's daughter was absolutely adorable. she was very playful and giddy, which helped the two out a lot when it came to the worry of boredom occurring.
they'd taken sumi out to a teddy bear shop, giving her an opportunity to assemble her own very own, personalized stuffed animal. after visiting all sorts of shops, the two adults decided to bring her home, as soojin said her date would have been finishing by now.
as if it was right on que, there was a knock at namjoon's door. great. namjoon definitely did not trust himself alone around jin right now, so he knew how awkward this would probably become once sumi left. namjoon gets up from the couch, walking over to the door. he unlocks the door, and swings it open to see an emotionally drained looking soojin. namjoon wasn't an idiot, so it was quite obvious that soojin had been crying.
"i'm so sorry, i look gross right now" soojin apologizes, wiping at the watery mascara dripping down her cheeks. "no, it's okay... um... is everything alright? do you need someone to talk to?" as embarrassing as it was, soojin nods shyly. by now, sumi and jin were looking over in their direction. namjoon nods at the woman, walking back over to jin, whispering, "keep sumi company, i'm going to talk to soojin". jin saw how broken soojin looked, and understandingly assures namjoon to go along and do so. he felt bad for her.
namjoon walks out of his apartment to meet soojin, shutting the door behind him. "do you want to talk in your apartment?" he suggests, making soojin nod and lead him to the location. she unlocks the door, and the two walk in.
"so i'm guessing the date didn't go too well, huh?" he sighs. soojin nods slowly, sniffling and swiping her remaining tears away. "w-when he found out i had a daughter, he left" she says. namjoon watches as her eyes begin to become glossy again. "hey, don't cry! if he just left you because of something like that, then let him go. it was only a matter of time, and at least you told him sooner than later, right?" he tries to comfort soojin, letting his hands rest on his shoulder. "yeah, i... i guess"
"thank you namjoon. i really needed to hear that." she smiles. "anytime" he smiles back, his dimples making an appearance. just before namjoon was about to leave to go get sumi and return her back to her mother, he was interrupted. "namjoon!" she calls. "yeah?" he turns around.
"how's miyoon?" soojin asks. namjoon let out a hesitated breath.
"he's... um- he's good"
