ELONA

Five more months. There was five more months before I would be gone for good out of this hell-hole I've been forced to call home since I was seven years old and moved in here with my aunt, uncle and cousin.

Don't get too soft on me though in thinking oh how sweet of them. They did it because my parents were ambushed one night while protecting our pack and somehow rogues got onto our territory and were all out numbered.

The pack was my family and I lost all of them that night, including my parents. We had no one else to turn to and I guess in their Will, they named my aunt and uncle as my legal guardians.

I was excited at first to meet someone blood related in my family but that happiness was soon replaced after the first couple weeks with fear and a while new atmosphere. They could have put me up for adoption or say they didn't want me but they're hard up on cash and lost their pack. I guess in a shorter explanation, they're rogues and no pack will take them or do any business with them.

Right away I became their slave and their target to let out frustration.

I couldn't wait for the day when I turned sixteen and had hoped I would shift and then find my mate who would love me and make everything better. Man was I wrong.

First of all, my so called mate, was dating my cousin at the time when her and I were both sixteen and I waited for him to react. My wolf and I were so happy and believed things would change for the good. But again, they didn't.

When I finally confronted him about it and asked for an explanation as to why he was ignoring the pull and denying fate, he pulled me aside the same day out against the side of our school and he rejected me.

"I Darren Ashford reject you, Elona Lynfield as my mate." He then walked off.

Then that was it. That was the second worst day of my life. Okay maybe third. The first day was when my parents were killed while out numbered and ambushed by a bunch of rogues. The second was when my Aunt and Uncle took me in to help raise me and their daughter who was just as bad as them both, then this day.

That was supposed to be the happiest day of my life. He was supposed to be my ticket to happiness. My escape from the hell I have had to endure. But it wasn't and to be honest I wasn't surprised. I guess I should have known better than to think the Moon Goddess would ever give me a mate. I guess that only happens for some. Like my parents.

That was the day that I realized and things became clear for me. That love doesn't exist. It's an illusion that distracts you from reality.

Thankfully I won't have to see him again. Seeing how rumor has it that he broke up with my cousin, went to Alpha Training and has become a fearless and one of the strongest Alpha's. So he has no reason to return. Besides, he's two years older than my cousin and I and so now I don't have to worry about him returning to finish school or anything since he's twenty years old. So there is really no reason for me to see him again.....Again, I was wrong.

After school was over, I was really happy because my best friend (aka only friend), Tasha, was coming over to spend time with me at the house since my uncle and aunt as well as my cousin, Mikaela was leaving for the three day weekend. So everything was gonna be great.

I guess I will never learn to always expect the worst as I quickly was reminded after Tasha and I headed to my house and as soon as we walked inside, there sitting on the couch was my cousin and she was scrolling on her phone.

"What are you doing here?" I ask her taken back.

"Uh, I live here. What is she doing over here?" She asks while she glares at Tasha who has always wanted to beat the hell out of my cousin.

"Are you serious bitch?!" Tasha says as she drops her bag.

I stop her real quick.

"Don't worry about it." I tell her.

"Did you ask my parents if she could stay?" She asks with a smirk knowing I didn't.

"No I didn't." I replied in confidence.

"Well I have an idea. How about I don't tell my parents that you had a friend over and you don't tell my parents I'm having an old friend come by with his friends to try and see if we can create an alliance with one another." She tells me.

"Fine." I roll my eyes.

"What do you guys have in those bags?" She asks looking at our grocery bags full of drinks and snacks for the weekend.

"They're drinks and snacks for our weekend." I snap at her.

"With what money though? Did you steal from my parents?" She asks defensively.

"Oh god shut up. I paid for these." Tasha says as she grabs her bag and then a couple of the grocery bags and starts making her way to my room as I follow after her.

Luckily I have a mini fridge in my room that Mikaela I guess didn't care to have and was given to me and has been great.

We were in the room and had just finished watching a couple of movies and both were hungry so she ordered some pizza and wings and as soon as the doorbell rang, I told her I would get it. So I made my way downstairs and as soon as I opened it up, I was frozen in place. It was him.

"Hey Elona." He smiles.
