Interlude: Laughter

I have nightmares every night, either them be small memories of the past, or new ones that are dramatized by the old ones. Every night I have one...

Except for last night

I want to say it was Garroth, but I don't know. He held me through the night, not letting go. It was like a protective blanket was covering me. But all I could wonder was, why does he care?

[_-_]

I jolt awake, alone and scared. My brain no longer inhabiting the peaceful world of fantasy and sleep. It takes me a moment to remember where I am and why, but then the memories of last night start flooding my aching head.

I will murder Gene. There's no debate about it.

When I'm done contemplating on how to kill him, I look around the room, looking for my friends but finding nobody. Then I hear voices downstairs, calming me. Irene. I thought they left me.

My head bursts with pain when I sit up, slightly tilting it to relieve it. I feel nauseous so I walk over to the bathroom, like a drunkard, and lock the door.

I can't throw up naturally, so I stick two fingers in my mouth. The sour taste of beer and food from last night exiting my mouth.

I wipe off any residue from the toilet, my mouth, and my fingers, flushing the toilet.

I sit back against the wall, closing my eyes. I feel a bit better, the nausea gone.

"Fuck..." I hold my head, laying on the ground. The next thing I know, I'm waking up to frantic knocking.

"Y/N?! Open the door!" I reach the lock and the door bursts open, a concerned Katelyn. "Irene I thought you died in here!" I weakly smile, closing my eyes again. "Uh uh, open eyes, you're coming downstairs."

She pulls me up, I half stumble across the room and down the hall. Then we reach the stairs. "Laurence, Garroth. Can one of you guys help me?" She holds me as I lean, just trying to stand.

"No no. I can walk down the stairs." I tell her, she sighs.

"Nevermind." She holds my shoulders as I step down each step. I usually don't like help, but after last night, I'll let this slide. When I thought I had succeeded, I manage to trip on the last step. Stumbling, but managing to catch me.

"You good?" I nod, walking into the kitchen.

"Well, if it isn't Y/N." Laurence smiles. "How are you feeling?"

"Ask me tomorrow." I wave him off.

"What happened upstairs? We were about to run up there." Aphmau asks.

"She passed out in the bathroom. I thought she died." Katelyn sits me down at the table.

"Oh my Irene, are you okay?" Garroth asks, concern written on his face.

"I-I didn't pass out." I look at Katelyn.

"Yeah, you did." She furrows her brows.

"Oh." Is really all I can answer. My head hurts, it's a throbbing pain that won't go away.

"Here." Katelyn places three things in front of me. Two pills, a cup of water, and a small glass of some smoothie looking thing.

"What-What is this?" I pick up the smoothie thing.

"A hangover remedy I made for everyone, saw it online, thought I might try it." She pushes it towards me.

"It works, Garroth and I had it." Laurence nods, Garroth nods with an agreement.
