"I didn't want to wake up. I was having a much better time asleep. And that's really sad. It was almost like a reverse nightmare, like when you wake up from a nightmare you're so relieved. I woke up into a nightmare."

Sierra's POV

I fidgeted with my angel wing necklace that mom had given me six years ago before all this happened. My sister has a matching one, from pictures I can tell she's never taken it off. I haven't seen Y/N since she was three and feel like I've missed a lot, she's my little sister and I'm supposed to look after her. I failed the moment they separated us. Mom said never to tell anyone about our family, about our curse. Y/N and mom both have it and she wanted to make sure both of us were safe from the bad people.

I miss her long (you're younger so your hair will be long), H/C hair and sparkly E/C eyes. When she smiled I forgot about everything we've been through. Now, she's five-hundred miles away from me. The man caring for me glances in the rearview mirror before making a turn and we lock eyes. I turn away and look out the window.

"What will happen to my sister, Rowan?" He sighs, readjusting his hands on the steering wheel.

"It's better that she doesn't know who she is just yet, that bracelet your mother put on her before handing her over should stop her powers from reaching the surface if she continues to wear it. Knowing your family and the way they hold onto important things," He looks in the mirror again. "She won't take it off until the time is right."

"How will she know when the time is right?" I ask, weary for my sister. He chuckles. "She's going to do something stupid isn't she?"

"We'll have to see. For now, concern yourself only with the present and future, for the past is done with and from moments here on, we move forward. Now, Derek and Rachel are waiting in at the house, we can't take long."

"What if they find us, what if they do something bad to us-to her?!" I exclaim.

"They can't find her, your mother made the right decision putting you both in the system, waiting for Derek and Rachel. Unfourtunelty, only you were able to come."

"Why couldn't she? That's what I don't understand!"

"Your parents forgot a signature on her papers to give away their rights before disappearing. She can't be adopted." I sigh and thud back in my seat. At least, I can one day see her again, hopefully, happy and bright. Smiling. Maybe our family will be together again.

I hope

Y/N's POV

My mind is clear, but I can feel chaos coursing through my body. My fingers tingle and my chest burns like fire. My eyes flutter open and I gasp for air, sitting up. I can't really see anything and I feel wires all over me. I begin tearing them off and feel a sharp pinch on my wrist. Did I try to commit suicide? Am I in the hospital? What happened?! I throw all of the wires off to the side and try to see, everything is blurry and dark.

"Hey! Hey!" Someone grabs my hands, while I recognize the voice, my brain doesn't register that someone is trying to calm me. "Y/N! Y/N!" Their grip on my wrists tightens and I stop struggling, squinting my eyes. My brain makes out Sierra, her tan colored skin, blue eyes, and dark brown hair. Her face is full of concern.
