"Wes, what happened?" Nick asked frantically as he got back to Dalton.

Wes, knowing full well his father was watching him, brushed right past him.

Nick, after standing in shock, quickly followed him into Dalton. "Wes?"

Glancing out the window and seeing his father had left, Wes seemed to relax. "Sorry about that. My father was watching, I had to pretend I couldn't stand you."

"You never answered any of my texts, I was freaking out." Nick certainly was panicked.

Wes winced. "He made me block your number, and watched me to make sure I did it. He doesn't want me to have anything to do with you."

Nick scowled. "Let me guess, because I'm 'part of that crowd?'" He said it with a posh accent.

"That's my father you're mocking!" Wes smacked his shoulder, stifling his laughter.

"I can totally see why you and David keep things on the down-low, though. He's terrifying, I don't know how you live with him."

Any trace of amusement left and Wes put his hands in his pockets. "Yeah," he mumbled.

Nick stopped walking, stopping Wes by his elbow. "Wes, what's wrong? You're acting differently."

Wes shrugged, not meeting his eyes.

"He didn't...?" Nick trailed off, worry increasing.

He shook his head. "He didn't hurt me, Nick. Neither of them did."

Nick felt himself relax. "What happened? Don't try to lie to me, I know something happened."

Wes sighed, almost angrily. "I hate it. I just hate it, how they take everything I love away from me. Then they criticize the things they haven't taken yet."

"Wes-" Nick started worriedly.

"I'm going to find David," he interrupted, walking away.

Nick looked after him, knowing there was more to the story. But now, he had to find Thad.
