"I'm fucking starving, man" says Matt, looking pleased with himself as he got to push the trolley.
"Yeah, same here" says Jamie.
"Me too," says Andy.
"Yeah, me too" says Alex.
"We'll get food after the security check then, can't bring all this luggage into Burger King," Matt says, laughing.
"Can Darcy come through that far?" Alex asks, his face full of worry. Matt sighs.
"Don't think so, mate" he says, he pats Alex's shoulder sympathetically. Alex checks the time; 2:10.
"Ehh, Al we should get through security check soon, Jamie says putting his hand on Al's shoulder. Al shrugs it off, furious.
"No we fucking don't, Jamie" he yells, making strangers stare. Al glares at him, taking your hand.
"Let's walk over to security, ask if she can come over" he says, pulling you along.
"Alex," you say quietly. He stops in his tracks to face you.
"Yeah, sweetie, what's up?" he whispers.
"I'm not gonna be allowed over" you whimper, the security gate was in front of you and the security guards look scary.
"Yes, you will," he whispers, although you can tell he knows you won't be.
"I want you to wave me off," he whispers, pushing a strand of hair behind your ears. "It's worth a try," he says. He walks over to the security guard.
"Hi, mate, can my girlfriend get past this bit without her passport or anything?" he asks. The security guard smirks, nastily.
"No, sorry kid. If your bird isn't travelling with us she can't come over, how do we know she ain't gonna bomb the place?" he laughs. Alex glares at him.
"This isn't a fucking joke, please can she come over the gate," Alex says, his voice raising a little. The security guard's smirk soon turns into a scowl.
"Sorry, sir. There's rules," he says.
"I won't see her for more than a year, mate, please" he begs. The security guard shakes his head.
"No, I can't do anything, sorry" he says.
Alex's eyes fill with tears.
"Please, mate you don't understand" Jamie pipes in, putting his arm around Al. The security guard shakes his head again.
"I've seen it a million times," he says.
Your heart starts beating fast, knowing you have a matter of minutes to memorise Alex's perfect little features. You pull him to the side.
"Have a good tour, okay? Keep safe, please? Please." you ramble. Tears were streaming down Alex's face violently. He shakes his head.
"No, no" he mumbles. You fall into him, wrapping your arms around him tight. He whispers nonsense into your hair and kisses your face. He moves to your lips and gives you the most amazing kiss ever, stroking your cheeks with his little thumbs and wrapping his arms around you. You never want it to end. He kisses just under your ear then whispers "I love you," before kissing it again. Everything was too much.
"No, don't leave" you suddenly find yourself crying out. He starts crying more violently and kisses you again.
"I love you, keep safe okay?" he whispers, tears still flowing down his cheeks.
"I love you too," you say, overwhelmed by what was happening. And with that he kisses your hand, whispering he'll miss you and goes over to security check, back to the lads. He gets through the gate and you just stare, stare at him until he is a tiny dot. Until they're all tiny dots. Then they disappear. You hadn't even said goodbye to Matt or to Jamie or even Andy. You were now alone. For one and a half years.
