"I should go and tell the Doctor you're awake," you say, sitting up.
"What? No, please, stay with me for just a couple more minutes," he pouts. He still looks extremely ill, and winced with pain whenever he moved.
"I'm gonna go get the doctor" you say, getting out the bed. He sighs and sinks back into the bed. You walk out to the reception. The smiley woman grins at you.
"Hello!" she says brightly.
"Hi, uh, I'm looking for Doctor Peters? My boyfriend Alex has woken up," you say.
"Ah, that's great news! I'll send him over," she says, tapping into her computer.
You make your way back to the hotel room. Your heart flutters at the sight of Alex, it had been a month and you had missed him more than anything. You were so glad to be with him again. You sit by the bed.
"Doctors on his way," you say.
"I can't believe you came all this way," says Alex, reaching for your hand.
"How could I just stay at home?"
"You should've. Were you worried?" he asks, looking you in the eye.
"Of course I was," you say.
"I'm sorry," he says, looking to the floor sadly.
"Hey, hey, why are you sorry?" you whisper, pulling his chin up so he faces you.
"You must've been really sad whilst I was sat here being asleep and an idiot," he mutters.
"It wasn't your fault the bus crashed," you say. You lean in and kiss him, he sighs onto your mouth and puts his less sore arm on your face. After, he strokes your cheek with his thumb and then sinks back into his bed. Suddenly, the door opens. It's Doctor Peters.
"Hello, Alex, how're you doing?" the Doctor says.
"Y'alright, Doc" Alex says. You roll your eyes at him, fondly. "I'm doing okay," he says.
"Well, is it okay if we give you a quick scan? And just check you through?" the Doctor asks. Alex nods. He glances over at you and gives you a thumbs up and the Doctor wheels him off. Your heart starts racing.
What if something had happened in the crash? What if he was going to die? You worry for around an hour, then the doctor comes back into the room.
"So?"
"I'm sorry, Darcy, we have some bad news,"
