You spot Alex's mum inside the bakery you had agreed to meet in and walk inside with Alex trailing along moodily. You put on a fake smile and rush over to her to give her a welcoming hug.
"Hello, Darcy! How're you doing?" She exclaims happily. Alex hugs her too.
"I'm doing good, you?" You say and she responds with "I'm doing good".
Her eyes switch from you and Alex, reading your facial expressions like a book. She frowns.
"Have you two been arguing?" She finally asks.
"Yep" Alex says like a stroppy teenager, then wanders to the counter to buy a pastry. Penny tuts after him.
"He's a moody one ain't he?" She says, shaking her head at him. You nod.
"Anythin' serious?" She asks.
"I don't think so," you answer truthfully. "I think hes just stressed at the moment" you admit. She nods like she understands then goes to the counter to join him in buying something. You sigh and sit at a small wooden table.
