Chapter Five- Look Who It Is

Caden cleared his throat & came back into my room after I waited impatiently for what seemed like hours for him to be allowed back.

Stupid Bennett.

"So I have to tell you something." He starts cautiously.

I nod & gesture with my hand for him to continue.

He sighs & plops down beside me on the bed. "Well something came for you today & it's outside waiting, but I'm not sure I should bring it in yet because you came out here to get away from Lancaster & Lancaster things." He says and glances at me quickly.

What the hell is he talking about???

I sigh exasperatedly. "Will you just tell me already?" I ask impatiently.

"Well Kennyflewoutdidontknowwhattodo. Shoulditellyouaboutitornot? Imscaredofwhatyouwilldo&ijustdontknowwhattosay?" He rushes out & I don't understand a word.

"Wait what did you say? You are talking way too fast." I comment & he frowns.

"Kenny's here." He murmurs.

My breath hitches in my throat & my heartbeat picks up.

"When did he get here?" I choke out.

"Last night. He flew in, but he was so exhausted he crashed on the couch & I told him he could see you today." He says with caution.

I smile a little. "That was sweet of him. Where is he? Bring him in." I say.

Caden's mouth opens in shock & his eyes widen, but he walks out to get Kenny, no doubt.

He returns moments later followed by the lumbering beast that is Kenny Rogers.

When Kenny sees me he grins widely & runs over to scoop me up in his arms. I giggle & hug him back tightly. I missed this weirdo.

He sets me back down into the bed & sits beside me.

"Now Hayden what did you do? I knew you were clumsy, but 2 days in a hospital? Come on. You can do better than that." He says & playfully nudges me.

I smack his arm lightly in mock anger. "Shut up dork wad. So want are you doing here? Miss me already?" I ask so sweetly that's it makes me sick.

His expression immediately changes from happiness to uneasy & anxiety ridden.

Wow this must be big if he's this nervous.

He scratches the back of his neck & his eyes flutter from one object to the next throughout the room, but they never make contact with me.

"Well I wanted to tell you something, but now I just can't do it." He says finally & sighs.

Awe he's so cute when he's nervous.

I rest a hand on his and give him a small smile. "

You can tell me anything Ken. It won't change anything. Don't be nervous." I say & I see him relax a bit.

Then suddenly he stands up and paces around the room.

"I just can't. I can't tell you because I'm scared. It changes everything. Don't you get that? If I tell you this then it changes everything & I don't want everything to change! I only want one thing to change! I can't do this Hayden. I just can't." He exclaims & then collapses into a chair beside me.

I freeze in my bed because I think I know what he is referring to. No no no!! This can't be happening.

Quickly I grab a pice of paper & a pen from the stand beside my bed & hand it to him.
