Romeo's POV~
I contemplated silently to myself that day, being quite a bit more close-mouthed than usual - or, at least, I felt like I was. If Rion noticed, he hadn't said anything. We had had some spaggheti after he returned from work, insisting on it seeing as I had confessed to wanting to try his version of the particular pasta. In the meantime, we decided to kick back on the couch and watch an action movie.
Currently, I was trying to brainstorm some sort of plot twist, kind of direction or anything for one of my stories on Wattpad using a notebook app for the drafts. I hadn't been very productive with it as of the late, what with all of the stuff that had been going on. Needless to say, it was rather irritating since I really liked where the book was going.
The one I was currently focused on was based on some events that had actually happened to me. But that's what makes a good novel, isn't it? They always say write what you know, and that's what I was doing. Sometimes I would say that I like to experience everything at least once so that I know how to get it across more accurately in my writings. I always disliked writing about things and pretending to know the situation because every time i tried, it would come out seeming so fake and usually over-done.
I licked my dried lips, nibbling the chapped skin subconsciously as I went to leave the app and put on some music only for a familiar ringtone went off followed by the caller ID reading Mom popping up. Nearly jumping out of my skin from the sudden disruption of a soundless atmosphere, I swiped right to answer and vaguely recalled the conversation from earlier that day.
"Hey. What's up, mom?" I answered, leaning back into the sofa from which I hadn't moved from since the end of the movie.
"Hey." She replied, a bit of a cheery tone in her voice. "I'm sorry if I'm intruding on anything important-"
"Nah, not really. I was just playing around on my phone." I dismissed with a shrug knowing very well she couldn't see it.
"Of course," She laughed lightly. "I just wanted to ask you a question. I was gonna ask earlier but it didn't seem like the right time."
"Oh, no no. It's fine; I was fine, mom, don't worry." I quickly excused, shaking my head and animating hands needlessly. "What did you want to ask?"
"I was just wondering if I could perhaps come over for a visit? Like maybe next weekend? That way it would be out of the way of your schooling and whatnot."
My eyebrows raised at the idea, it not being something I had expected but I was also more surprised that it had surprised me in the first place. "Oh- uh, yeah. I'm not opposed to that. I mean, of course. I just gotta tell Orion-"
"Of course, of course." She agreed, likely responding physically as well, an amused grin practically audible through the phone. "I wouldn't want to just show up unannounced. We all know how that usually goes down in movies."
I let out a soft chuckle. It was a stupid joke, but I appreciated my mother's humor. "Yeah- hold on, I'm gonna go check on him."
"Yes, yes, do what you must, honey."
I nodded, again, needlessly while screaming mentally to stop the stupid motions as I pressed the phone to my chest and went to the bedroom.
Orion was sitting cross-legged on the bed with his laptop resting in its intended placement, eyes glued attentively to the screen until my entrence whence they flicked up to meet mine. He raised an eyebrow questioningly, noticing the phone in my hand.
"My mom was wondering if she could come over to visit next weekend.." I started, suddenly feeling very awkward about it and allowing my eyes to travel away from him and about the room. Damn, it's a mess. I need to clean it but I've just been so lazy lately.
