Romeo's POV~

Something woke me in the midst of the night.  It was almost inaudible and any other person would've probably missed it.  Unfortunately, though I used to be a fairly deep sleeper, I no longer was able to sleep through almost any disruptive sound.  The sound, however, was likely just that of a tree branch hitting the window.  Sighing to myself, I thanked the heavens that my slumber had been dreamless and rubbed my eyes sleepily.

I would've gone back to sleep but instead I decided to answer the call of nature and carefully crawled out of bed, heading to the bathroom across the hall.
.
.
Wiping excess water from my hands as I left the bathroom, I passed by the guest room and spared it a glance on my way back to bed.  I almost didn't give it a second thought as my hand grabbed the doorknob until I made a double take and noticed a piece of paper folded up and taped to the brown wood of the door.

Frowning, I stopped my actions and instead snatched it from its placement, quickly unfolding it to read the message.

Romeo.

I'm so sorry about how insensitive I was during dinner yesterday.  I also apologise for not telling you about Angelos sooner and not being there for you when you were suffering in silence.  I'm probably one of the worst moms in existence and I didn't want to make you any more uncomfortable than I already have.

Another thing was that I know I knew you were gay -you told me before- and I should've realised the words I was saying, but I didn't.  I don't love you any less, sweetie, and I hope you can forgive me.  All I wanted was to fix the bridge between us that has been neglected over the years.  I want to be apart of your life and I know I have no right to tell you how to live your life.

Let Orion know that we really enjoyed his cooking and my best wishes to you both.

          With all our love,
               ~Mom and Angel

My breathing hitched, realising that the sound that had woken me had likely been that of her and Angelos leaving.  Wanting to bang my head against the nearest wall, I clenched my teeth and ran into the room.  I quickly found my hoodie and pulled it on before slipping on my shoes in a rush.

Orion shifted in bed and sat up wearily with a grunt.  "What are you doing, Ro?"

"Mom just left.  I'm going after her." I stated, retying my loosened shoelaces.

His movements had him out of bed in a flash with an Oh shit and he began to quickly put himself together as well.  Within five minutes, we were both ready and ran out the door.  Apparently it was 1:48am, so the busses were out of the question.  Instead, we called a cab to give us a lift to the subway.

The seconds that ticked by for the cab to reach as as well as the ones spent in the backseat, were far too long.  I didn't want mom thinking that she had made me completely detest her.  Of course I was upset, and maybe I had rambled a bit at dinner, but if she was truly sorry then there was no need to just up and leave.  There was always text, but it had been too long since we'd seen each other and I preferred to let her know in person.

It was once the yellow vehicle finally reached the station that I noticed Orion's fingers intertwined with my own, but only when they parted so we could get out.  Pushing that matter aside, we both rushed down the entrance.
