Orion's POV~

Beep... Beep... Beep... Beep... Beep... Beep..

The familiar sound of a heart rate monitor was what rose me from whatever dead I had been residing in.  Everything felt numb, tight and stiff.  Antibiotics and disinfectants stained the air with an unsettling permanence. My eyes slowly opened to the dark hospital room and my mind instantaneously raced for an explanation.

What happened?

Why am I here?

What time is it?

Next, the reality of my situation settled in.

Where the fuck is Romeo?

What day is it!?

Oh, fuck, I was just getting....

Pho.  The bus.  The traffic, and jay-crossing.  Everything made sense.  I searched about the room, desperate to locate the clock.  Tucked off to the side of the room, however, I made out a figure amidst the dark huddled under a blanket.  The subtle sniffling nearly made me want to break down in tears right then and there.  Somehow he had found out and now here he was.

My eyes flickered up to the wall and found the clock.  It was difficult to read but the hands seemed to point to maybe 12:20am.  Going against the very likely rule against it, I slowly eased myself up into a sitting position.  This allowed me to properly survey what had become of me.

Luckily, both my arms were still in tact but with a noticeably strong ache in my right shoulder.  Pain in the abdomen forced me to flinch and cradle my midsection with a bandaged forearm.  A few broken ribs.  My legs seemed to have taken damage as well, but the bandaging implied that it was likely just some scrapes and bruises.  I felt at my face and head, feeling the binding about my crown as well as a patch on my right cheek and a bandage on my nose.  So it wouldn't be a fun recovery, but I'd be lying if I said that that was the worst condition I had ever been in.

I looked back over at my boyfriend in the corner of the room.  Part of me wanted to wake him and make sure he was okay, but the fact that he was still sick made me hesitant.  Then again he was a light sleeper.  If I were to get up and attempt to make it to the bathroom door then the chances of him waking from that were pretty high.  His presence alone proved just how worried he was so alerting him might be a good thing.

"... Romeo?"  I said in a soft voice, awaiting his response.  It didn't come so I spoke a little louder.  "Romeo."

Romeo inhaled wetly, jolting a little before he seemed to realise where he was and turned to look at me.  Lips moved to speak soundless words but the relief and happiness in his eyes made me smile and he got up to sit on the side of the bed.  My hand was immediatly grasped in both of his, drawing attention to me that two of them -ring and middle- were bound together.

"H-hey, ho-how do you fe-feel?" He stuttered, concern and distress joining the positives of his face.  "I-I mean I know y-you feel like cr-crap, but I mean..."

I chuckled, trying not to wince at the pain in my ribs.  "It's all better knowing you're here."  I reached my free hand out to ruffle his messy hair.

He wrinkled his nose.  "Ri..."

"More importantly: how do you feel?  I know you didn't get to have any of the pho since the road decided to eat it instead, but did you eat at all?"

His lips formed a line, eyes not meeting mine.  "It's not m-more imp-portant, but... No.  N-not really.  I fell as-sleep while I was w-waiting for you to co-come home, but when I-I woke up you st-still hadn't c-come back and I-I got sc-scared..."
