Romeo's POV~
"-All this time, and now you're calling me?" I replied a bit irritated. Not that the emotion seeped in too much. It was hard for me to express my frustration with my own mother. Even after everything that happened.
"I'm sorry. It's just been really difficult these days..." She excused, solemnly.
I sighed mutedly, trying not to feel annoyed. Relax. Focus on something else. It's too late in the night to be stressing over pointless shit. "When do you want me to come over...?"
"Would you be able to come over tomorrow morning?"
Tomorrow morning? Short notice much?
"I know it's short notice, but that's the only opening I have right now... I'm sorry, Romeo."
A grimace synched itself to my face. "Kay. Just send me the address." I didn't even think before hanging up, not really wanting to hear any more. A vein twitched in my forehead and I tried to massage it so it would calm down. And maybe calm me down, too.
It was a week after I met Orion's little sister. She was absolutely adorable and precious, and an entirely innocent soul. To think she was related to both Tessy and Rion. Though that was probably a good thing, knowing that those two could protect her so well.
The sky was bleeding out into dusk, the time late but the apartment was still fairly warm from the heat brought on by the day. Orion had retired to bed after coming home from work. I had had a hard time sleeping and decided to work a little more on my writting. Unfortunately, my mind was growing dull of inspiration. Even though all the lights in the room had been terminated, I still couldn't seem to focus. Not that the phone call really helped. It more just fogged everything up and crowded my brain.
"I give up." I mumbled to myself, getting up from the sofa. I brought my phone back to the bedroom and plugged it in before carefully climbing into bed.
Orion stirred to face me, pinkish-crimson eyes meeting mine through the darkness of the room. "Who was on the phone."
"Oh, you heard that? Sorry. Did I wake you?" I laid down comfortably, already wearing my pajamas from the night before.
He shook his head. "Not really... So who was it?"
"My mom." I curled up on my side, facing him but still grim.
"Hmm. What did she call about?"
"She wants me to come over to visit with Angel for a while. Says he's been really sad and she wants my help."
Orion hummed again. "So are you going?"
I sighed, again. "I think so... I dunno... I do want to see how my brother is doing, but I'm still kinda frustrated with my mom."
"I'll go with you, if you want."
"You don't work tomorrow?" I gave him a weird look.
"Nope. I have the day off. Unless they try to call me in, but I'll just say I can't make it. Did you set an alarm?"
Uuugh. I don't even know what time she wants me to actually be there. She just said in the morning. Is that supposed to be a flexible meaning or something? "... Let's just try to make it there by 9:30 or 10. I don't really want to wake much earlier than that requires... We're gonna have to take the train, too, probably."
Orion sat up and reached for his phone, unlocking it and searching up the transit. "Yeah... I don't know if T works tomorrow, but we might be able to talk her into picking us back up. Where does your mom live?"
