The next morning, I wake Archie with breakfast in bed, doing my best to support his broken heart.
"Heh, thanks Nova." Archie chuckles
"How you doing?" I ask, sitting at the end of his bed.
"My heart feels like it got stomped on." Archie sighs.
"I know, it sucks. I'm sorry." I sigh.
"How do i... Not have her. She just... She makes everything better, like even though life has been getting darker and darker recently-"
"She feels like a light?" I ask.
"Yeah." Archie sighs again. "How'd you know?"
"I've known that feeling." I say. "It's gonna get better, Archie. I know it hurts."
Yeah, thanks Nov." He says.
"You enjoy that. I'm going to call Sweet pea, see how bad the hangover is. Might have to take him breakfast too." I joke.
"I know you didn't want to leave him alone drunk, so thank you for coming home." Archie says.
"I would've brought him, but I didn't want Fred... yaknow?" I sigh.
"Thinking badly of him for being drunk?" Archie asks.
"Exactly." I say.
"He wouldn't." Archie sighs.
"I don't really wanna risk it. Don't thank me for coming home, by the way. I had a feeling you needed me. I'm glad I followed my instincts." I say.
Archie nods, and I walk out of the room and into my own. I dial Sweet pea's number.
"Hello?" Sweet pea croaks.
"You sound healthy." I laugh.
"Fuck off." He laughs back. "I'm never drinking again."
"He says until the next time he drinks." I joke.
"Don't out me like that, babe." Sweet pea whines.
"How're you feeling?" I ask.
"I don't know. I've felt worse, but this is still torture." He sighs. "Although... I will admit I was sad to wake up alone today."
"Sorry... Archie asked me to come home... Him and Veronica broke up." I sigh.
"Oh shit, really? Is he okay?" Sweet pea asks.
"As good as he could be, I guess." I sigh. "I can't help but worry."
"You never can, Nova." Sweet pea sighs.
"I know." I say.
"It's not a bad thing." He tells me.
"Yeah. I know." I sigh. "Do you need anything? I can bring something over?"
"No, it's okay. I think I'm just going to sleep it off." He says.
"Okay, well I'll talk to you soon, okay?" I say.
"I'll call you when I wake up." He says.
"Good." I say.
I hang up the phone, and head back into Archie's room, he's still eating.
"How's the food?" I ask.
"We'll make a chef out of you yet, Super-Nova." Archie jokes.
"Shut up." I laugh.
"How's Sweet pea?" He asks.
"Hungover." I laugh. "He survived without me, which is great."
Archie chuckles.
