"So, you're telling us Cheryl thinks her mom and her uncle pushed her nana down the stairs?" Sweet pea asks.
"Apparently. Poor Cheryl's terrified that she's next." I sigh.
I sit in the living room with Archie and Sweet pea relaying the previous nights events. I'm still angry with Archie but I felt like I should at least try to move past it. Plus, I desperately wanted to involve him in the re-telling of my evening.
"Do you think she is?" Archie asks.
"Hard to tell, but, have you met Penelope Blossom? I'm shocked she didn't drown Cheryl as a child the way she treats her." I sigh.
"Really?" Archie gasps.
"Yup, she's a vile woman. No wonder Cheryl's... The way she is sometimes." I say "Not to mention her kinky pirate uncle."
"What the hell is that supposed to mea-"
Before our conversation can continue or Sweet pea's questioning can begin, there's a knock at the front door. Archie gets out of his chair to open the door.
"Mom?" Archie asks excitedly, my head perks up, I look at Sweet pea excitedly, he looks at me, confused.
"Archie!" I hear Mary gleam, I leap out of my seat with realisation, heading for the door as Mary pulls Archie into a hug. "Hi! How are you?"
"I had no idea you were coming!" Archie says.
"I've missed you." Mary tells him, touching his face and walking past him into the house.
"Mary!" I say excitedly.
"Ah! Nova! Look at you!" Mary gleams, pulling me into a hug also.
"I missed you." I say excitedly.
"And I've missed you. Fred tells me we have a lot to catch up on since my last visit." Mary tells me.
"I guess you could say that." I chuckle, I look back at Sweet pea, who's already making his way over.
"And who's this?" Mary asks.
"Mary, this is my boyfriend, Sweet pea. Pea, this is Archie's mom, Mary." I introduce them.
"Ooh, boyfriend. Nice to meet you, Sweet pea." Mary greets, shaking his hand.
"You too, Mrs Andrews." Sweet pea says.
"Alright, I'll put my things away, and we'll make some food while I look over this mess with the Lodges before the kids head off to school." Mary says.
"No time wasted, huh, Mary?" I ask.
"Never." Mary winks at me.
"I wish you'd called me in earlier, Fred..." Mary sighs, as we sit around the counter eating. "Before you gave the Lodges 20% of Andrews Construction."
"Mr Lodge says he'll work this out. He'll keep his word." Archie informs his mother.
"Oh would you shut up, Archie." I snap, Sweet pea puts his hand over mine, obviously knowing I'm no stranger to this argument.
"Son, your mother and I have known the Lodges a lot longer than you have." Fred scoffs.
"Meaning what, dad?" Archie snaps.
"Archie!" Mary says, surprised at her son's sharp tone.
"It's okay. I better get to school, anyway. I'm helping Veronica with her campaign. We still on for lunch, Mom?" Archie says, Mary nods. "You guys coming?"
"No thanks, errand boy. We'll take the bikes." I snap at Archie, storming away from him to go upstairs to get my things.
