A few drinks deep, Sweet pea and I sit at the bar with Toni. He'd had only a couple more than me, but I knew I now needed to stop if I was going to drive us home, Sweet pea had already had bit to drink, and something told me he didn't plan on stopping.
"Nov, just a heads up, Betty was in here yesterday." Toni tells me.
"She was, why?" I ask.
"She wanted to know more about the serpents. Something about being a 'serpent adjacent' or something?" Toni informs me.
"Thanks for telling me, Toni... I'll talk to her." I say
"Toni, hook us up?" Sweet pea says, sliding her his glass.
"Babe... Maybe slow down a bit? The night's still young." I say.
"I'm fine, Nov. Only had a couple." Sweet pea says. I roll my eyes, realizing it's probably best to say nothing at all.
"Is that little Nova Daniels in a serpent jacket?!" I hear behind me. I turn to see Jughead's dad and long-time family friend, FP Jones walking towards me.
"FP!" I grin, greeting him with a hug.
"You finally followed in your parent's footsteps." He chuckles.
"Apparently so, Jug even found me my mom's jacket." I say.
"Fits like a glove." FP pats my shoulder. "It's been a long time since I've seen you, kid. How's Fred?"
"Fred's okay, he almost had a hernia when I said I wanted to join the serpents before 18." I laugh.
"I never understood why he never told you what happened, Nova." FP says, I raise an eyebrow at him.
"What do you mean he didn't tell m-"
"I think your brother's about to start singing Nov." Sweet pea interrupts me with a laugh, slugging an arm over my shoulder.
"He's a good singer." I tell him. "I'm gonna go watch. Are you coming?"
"Yeah, I'm comin'." Sweet pea says.
"I'll... I'll talk to you later FP?" I ask, he nods, and Sweet pea and I head for the stage, standing towards the back as Archie and Veronica begin to sing.
"Hey, you were right, he can sing!" Sweet pea says, wrapping his arms around my waist.
"He sure can." I laugh.
As the song progresses, I can see Archie's face change, as does Veronica's.
"Something's wrong, Pea." I say.
"Huh?" He asks.
"They're upset." I say, my concern increasing.
As if on cue, Veronica runs off the stage.
"Veronica!" Archie calls, running off after her.
"Should I go after them?" I ask as the crowd begins to boo.
"No, I have a feeling this is not a job for Archie's big sister." Sweet pea says.
"What if he needs me-"
"Wait, Nova? What's Betty doing?" Sweet pea asks.
I turn back to the stage, seeing Betty take the stage, finishing off the song. It's going fine until Betty begins to strip.
"She's doing the fucking serpent dance Sweet pea!" I gasp, I go to run to get her down, but Sweet pea pulls me back.
"She didn't stop you, Nov." Sweet pea reminds me.
