12 - Defeated

We seemed to be the cities last line of defence, but we were too late. The fortresses were too powerful, and had made their way into the city. They seemed to trample down buildings instantly with every step they took. It was a major problem, the start of a new war type of problem. One thing I couldn't get my head around was the fact they were holy or given holy powers, something along those lines. Also, what did these people want? They ever specified what they wanted, after all, they appeared out of nowhere.

I created a staff as I stared down one of the fortresses from the top of one of the towers. I then pointed the staff at the fortress as I created the magical book in my other hand. "Magnitude magnify!" I created a large portal in the sky which then created a smaller circle above it. Both circles seemed to be perfectly aligned with the centre of the top of the vehicle. The giant turret on the front began to glow. It then released a beam right at me. "Deflect." I created a portal and angled it up slightly. The attack hit the portal and shot into the sky. Once the attack had ended, it prepared a second attack, smoke being released from the weapon.

After a small amount of time, the attack tore back towards us from the sky. As it grew closer, it seemed to move outwards more. The attack then collided with the first circle and got dragged into the second where it was amplified. The attack tore through the fortress, engulfing it in a harsh smoke. I could tell the attack shot all the way through. I then dragged the 2 portals down in front of me and began to spin my staff in circles causing the wind going in that direction to be strengthened. The smoke was quickly pushed away and diffused in between the homes.

"You said we would call Rias if there was an issue, I would do it now." Yuma looked over to me and I shook my head. "I can't contact her from here. It was a lie to get her to not worry." The smoke finally completely disappeared, revealing what was left of a torn up fortress. "That's one down." I said as I looked towards all the rest which were tearing though the city. I sighed, "this is bad." I turned to look at the king who was staring horrified. "Your sister, is she the Scarlet Princess, Rias Gremory?" I nodded and he looked at me. "Can't you get her help?" I shook my head. "The only way to contact her is to return to earth and find her, the only issue is that, by the time I get back it will be too late. They would've made it through the city and-" Yuma cut me off. "And that's the end of the story."

A beam tore through the front gates of the castle grounds. The guards all rushed forward, hoping to protect the entrance. I put away my book and staff and created my bow. I aimed towards the gates and watched all the guards get launched around. I then loaded the bow and waited for the enemies to reveal themselves. I saw a figure enter the grounds so I shot an arrow at him. The arrow locked on got them right in the ankle. They fell to the ground in pain.

"Get the king to safety." I told Yuma as I created broken armoured wings. "Where are you going?" I looked back towards them and smiled. "I'm going to see how many fortresses I can take down." I took off and flew away as the 2 re-entered into the castle. I headed towards the furthest away fortress which was heading towards the portal to earth. It took a few minuets but after a while, I landed on the vehicle. After a few seconds of walking around aimlessly, I was caught off guard and surrounded by mages, about 13. "Well this will be fun." I cracked my knuckles and created my glove. The first mage charged at me, trying to hit me with his fist. I grabbed a hold of his wrist and launched him into the second. The third ran up to me from behind and grabbed a hold of my, gripping onto my neck. I launched myself back and flipped her over my shoulders, launching her to the ground. The fourth and fifth came at me at the same time, each throwing a punch from the opposite side of the other.

I evaded the fifth's punch while I grabbed the fourth and threw him at her. I then kicked a sixth which came at me. I created a beam as 3 of them charged at me. The tenth created a staff and chains which held me in place. I caused energy to push away from me causing the chains to shatter. While the rest grew stronger, they weren't effective enough to do damage. I caused my sword to appear in my hand from my shoulder and cut the eleventh. The twelfth tried to run away but I sliced his back. The tenth stepped back and looked towards the thirteenth. I threw my sword and impaled the thirteenth while stepping towards the tenth. She fell over backwards and landed against a wall. I smiled as my sword floated back to me. I put the sword on her shoulder. "Would you like to die to my fists or sword?" I waited for a response and she lifted her hand, releasing a green flame at me. It covered my arm and burned tremendously. She laid her head back against the wall. I tried to put out the burning and shut my eyes. I then stomped as hard as I could into her head, blood splattering up my trousers leg.

"Grim." I spoke to myself as I created a large portal above me. I created a staff and pointed the top of it into the sky. "Metalbend break." My staff shot a portal up above the other one and strange waves floated down. I flew into the air as the waves grew stronger due to the other circle amplifying them as they passed through. The fortress then began to creek, along with all the metal and supports beginning to bend and scrunch up. The fortress came off balanced and toppled to the ground, crushing multiple large buildings.

A large rumbled came from the castle, I turned around and realised the worst had happened, the castle was under siege, by an army from what I could see and 4 fortresses. I quickly soared my way over there, going as fast as I could. I landed outside the castle behind the army. "Broken armoured gear." I held out my gauntlet as the armour shards began to float around my body. I charged forward but was stopped by the mages. Fireballs along with other magic attacks were launched at me. I created an X in my arms and charged through the attacks. I jumped high into the air and glided to the front entrance of the castle. I tried to open it, it was locked. I kicked it open and slipped inside, being chased down by the mages. I shut the gates and locked them.

Everything was quite, quite horrifying. I knew that Yuma and the king were here so it wasn't as bad. "Hello?" My voice echoed through the large spaces in the building. I walked down all the hallways and looked in all the rooms, I couldn't find them anywhere. I then heard a ding coming from my phone. I pulled it out and answered a call. "They're close." I thought to myself, it was Yuma. "Where are you?" I waited for a second. There was banging on the door. "Top floor." I created a large cannon and pointed it up. I shot out a large explosive which blew through the floor. I flew through about 5 floored and reached the top floor. I floated back to solid ground and looked around. "Look out." I turned around, Yuma and the king were standing there, captured by mages. "Let them go." I created a black and purple flame in my hand. "And what wil you do?" One of the mages called out as I created a flame in my other hand. "This."

I charged into the middle of the mages and threw fire around everywhere. It burnt everyone, causing some to scream while some to fall unconscious. I then turned around when I noticed someone holding a sword and blasted them with all my strength. They were thrown against the wall and dropped their sword. Me along with Yuma and the king charged towards the closest exit but were stopped. There was a woman who was in a strange armour. She was pointing a sword directly at us, it seemed quite futuristic and grand. "No." The king said as he stepped back. I turned to him. "What's wrong?" Before he could respond, the female spoke up. "This sword, the realm connector." They bought the sword down with one giant slice and the air seemed to cut, creating a portal. Everything seemed to be dragged towards it at it grew larger and larger. The castle began to shake, it had become unstable. Me and Yuma created our wings. Yuma then grabbed a hold of the king.

I flew backwards, followed by Yuma. The portal was massive, pulling down the whole castle. I heard a large cracking and turned around. Behind me was a pillar which was cracking apart badly. It then shattered into large pieces all getting dragged towards the portal. Yuma was struck, she became unbalanced and crashed into the floor. Her and the king were dragged towards the portal. I created my shield and rushed towards the 2. "Get the king." Yuma said as she got taken through the rift. I grabbed the king and held onto part of the broken floor. "Let go. I don't want to drag you down." I smiled. "You won't, don't worry." I looked towards the broken pillar and noticed a large shard of pillar Come right at me. I let go of the support and stuck my shield in the way. It shattered against my shield and knocked me back. "I'm sorry." I said as my grip I had got on the carpet began to come loose. The king squirmed his hand about and slipped away from me. "King!" He was sucked into the portal and disappeared. I tried to fly off but got struck.

I had taken an arrow straight through the shoulder. I fell to the ground and had a giant piece of marble land on top of my legs. I was dragged towards the rift along with the marble. I tried grabbing onto anything but couldn't. My body began to disappear into the darkness of the portal, starting with my feet and moving up to my shins. Then my knees and finally my waist. Then my chest and my shoulder blades. I tried to grab onto a broken piece of ground but was unable too. My whole neck disappeared into the portal revealing only my face. I was dragged through, surrounded by darkness in a strange void.
