(Y/N POV)
I love the way you lie.
The dread in my stomach was so heavy, I could barely remember how to walk over to him. Did I even want to confront him? Maybe I could make a run for it, grab him some lunch, then race back and say the line was long.
But I don't want to lie to him.
I inhaled my breath, puffed up my cheeks and slowly walked up to him. It wasn't very long before he heard my footsteps against the gravel; his eyes shot up to stare me straight in the eyes.
"Oh, you're back," he said softly, "Blake told me you and Cameron went out to eat."
I didn't know what to do but nod. Who was blake? Why didn't he fire me already?
"Don't worry about me," he said, standing up, "I had the catered lunch to eat."
I let go of my breath, relieved that I didn't leave him to starve. We both just stood there, neither of us speaking, but I tried my best to figure out what to say.
"Do you need anything for me to pick up?" I asked, "I can get you some ice cream..."
"I'm vegan, remember?"
"I'm sure I can find a vegan ice cream store."
He stared at me in a mix of amusement and hurt. I couldn't tell which he felt more, but my guilt was slowly taking over every aspect of my mind. I felt really bad, but I don't think he knew that.
"I'd be careful," he said blatantly, "you don't know him as much as you think."
His tone was clearly trying to tell me something, but I had trouble reading it as anything other than a childish warning.
"Are you talking about Cameron?" I started, "of course I don't know him well, I met him literally today!"
"I never said who I was talking about, calm down!"
"Then who are you talking about?"
"Forget I even said anything, you're life is yours to live."
He brushed past me, clenching the empty wrapper in his hand. I spun around and stalked after him, anywhere but done with the conversation.
"Look Aidan, I'm sorry I left you here without telling you I was at lunch with Cameron," I apologized, "but that doesn't mean you can just bash him on the head. It's my fault, not his."
"Jeez Y/N, I'm not bashing him on the head!"
"Then what's with all the tumblr quotes coming out of your mouth!"
"Sometimes I want to feel wise and inspirational! You have a problem with that?!"
It got to the point where we weren't walking anymore, we were just standing across each other, both of us out of breath. We both stared at each other, grimaces on our faces, but we both knew none of us meant it.
A smile crept up onto his lips, his dimples right in front of my face. I couldn't help but staring back at him in slight adoration, all the guilt in my body going away.
"I'll just go get that ice cream," I said, turning to walk away.
"I'll just go back to set."
"Yep. bye."
"Bye."
.........
Wheres does someone even find a vegan ice cream place?
After some intense Yelp searching, I came across Cosmic Treats, a vegan treat shop. It was halfway across town, but I had 3 hours before I had to be back for Aidan.
I grabbed my train card and my wallet, but as I turned to leave, I realized how cold I was. I flipped around and started back towards the trailer, hoping I left one of my sweaters in there from the first day.
Swinging open the narrow door and stepping in, I gazed around the compact area for a familiar piece of fabric. The only thing left laying around in the room was a black Save the Sea hoodie, that looked strangely inviting.
I was tempted, but thought twice before taking the sweater. Were in a rocky place right now, so taking his sweater wasn't a way to make that any better. But it was really chilly outside....
I'll be back really quickly, I thought to myself, he won't even notice it's gone.
So that's how I ended up riding on a crowded train, halfway across the city with only a phone and a wallet, wearing Aidan's hoodie.
And darn, was it soft.
