"You can't turn back time."

We were almost nearing the end of the movie, and I was wishing I could relive this moment again and again. As the movie progressed along, I found my head lying on Aidan's chest, his arms wrapped around me to keep me warm.

Even though I had a blanket.

I could feel his heart beating, and everytime I'd place my hand near his, his heart beat started to race. I was positive mine was racing too.

"Hey," he said quietly, "can we talk?"

"I mean, the movie is still going on."

"It's important. Ish. at least to me."

I sat up, and turned to look at him. I suppose I underestimated how close I had been to him, since our noses almost brushed against each other. I widened my eyes sheepishly, and pulled away to cover my blushing face.

"Sorry," I mumbled, "oh god."

"It's okay," he chuckled, propping himself further up on his elbows.

"So what were you saying?"

He smiled, and pushed a strand of loose hair out of my face. Just the thought of his hand that close to my cheek made my stomach churn with butterflies. I saw him glance at my lips briefly, and suddenly I felt self-conscious. Were my lips too crusty?

"Remember what we spoke about earlier?" he asked, "about when I asked if you knew I liked you?"

"Yeah, I remember that."

"And," he said nervously, "you never told me what you thought about it."

"If I told you what I did, why would it matter?"

"Because there's another question leading up after that one. If you... feel the same way."

"I hope the question is if I want more popcorn."

"Y/N, come on. I'll get you some after this."

I smiled, and stared at the pillow that was laying in my lap. I recognized this feeling before, the butterflies racing and your mind swirling, and I knew what it meant. I just didn't know if I was ready to admit it. I don't know if I could put myself out there again.

Once in a lifetime opportunity.

"You," I started, "are really something Gallagher."

"Is that a bad thing?"

"Sometimes. Most times. At least you were."

"I see," he said, staring at the floor.

His hair fell over his eyes, casting a brooding yet innocent look about him. I found myself glancing at his lips too, and apparently I wasn't as sly about it.

"What?" he asked, "do I have something on my mouth?"

"Just shut up Aidan, stop playing like you don't know what I just did."

"I know what you did, I just want to know why you did it," he smirked.

"stop putting me on the spot, you did the same thing to me not even a minute ago."

"The difference is that I'm not afraid to admit what I want."

"And what do you want?"

"You."

My face was probably as red as a tomato, and now I couldn't control my emotions. My face was numb, and I couldn't tell what face I was making. And am I going crazy, or was Aidan now inches away from my face?

I could feel his warm breath against my skin, and it smelled vaguely of popcorn and mint.

"Can I kiss you?" He whispered.

"I don't know, CaN yOu?"

"Oh shut up, L/N."

He pressed his lips against mine, closing the gap that had separated us for the past second. Both of our eyes were closed, but I could still sense the smile he had on his face as we moved in sync.

Neither of us noticed the movie end, and that people had already started pulling out of the drive in. When we pulled away, we were the only people still there.

It was just us, the forest, and the stars.

"Woah," Aidan mumbled, "you're really good at that."

"Thanks? So are you?"

"I live how awkward this just got. Typical us."

"We make an awkward couple."

"Couple?" He said, his eyes lighting up.

I bit my lip, and laced my fingers through his. It was utter silence, with the occasional sound of crickets. I nodded my head, and he beamed.

"Finally," he said, "I get to call you what I've been wanting to call you for a long time."

"And what's that?"

He pulled me closer and planted a kiss on my forehead.

"My girl."
