"it shouldn't be a hard mission, fairly lowkey, but it is good to expose kylie to these kind of things," jaebeom said. the boys nodded, waiting for the next set of orders.
"we go late tonight. i'll form groups shortly, in the mean time, i'll run kylie through basic procedures. any questions?" he asked.
when no one responded, he walked out of the room and you followed him. "i'm still not for this idea, but youngjae convinced me, so, please listen carefully."
you nodded, waiting for the directions, "whoever you're partnered with, stay with them, at all times. second, do not engage with anyone, if you feel you're in danger; leave. whoever you're with will deal with the person. third, if any of us are in trouble, do not, and i mean this do not try and save us. we know what we're doing and we will get out of the situation. do you understand me?" he asks after the mountain of instructions.
you nod your head, trying to remember all the information. the day went on, jaebeom didn't teach you much more. he didn't think it was necessary for you to learn how to use a gun, so he didn't teach you. come mission time, you were very worried. jaebeom partnered you and youngjae together and you were to stick with him all throughout the night.
upon pulling up to your destination, you were hesitant to get out of the car. were you making the right choice? would it be easier to just not go through with this whole 'gang thing' and say goodbye to the seven boys forever?
you decided no, you weren't one to just give up after making it so far. you got out of the car and adjusted your black shirt that hugged your body tightly. "you ready?" youngjae asked after a few silent moments, you nod, following him into the building in front of you.
"what do we do?" you whisper after a few minutes, youngjae looked back at you, "right now, we're just waiting for orders. nothing seems very suspicious now, but that doesn't mean it won't get suspicious."
you nod, as you followed youngjae down a corridor that led to a room full of computers and large filing cabinets. your eyes wondered around, trying to take a mental picture of the room incase it would be useful in the future.
"kylie," youngjae whispered, "do you have any sort of sharp object at hand?" he asked, staring at the lock on one of the cabinets in the dark corner of the room.
you reach into your hair and pick out a bobby pin that was holding your hair in a tight bun. you walk up to the lock and insert the pin, moving it around until it clicked. your eyes lit up in victory and you pulled open the drawer.
youngjae gave you a look of approval and started searching through the tags of files. after some time, he held up a manila folder, stuffing it into his jacket and waving at you to follow him.
you quickly meet him at the door, heart full with confidence that this mission was going to go smoothly. however, all your hopes were diminished when you heard a door slam closed and a muscular body blocked you and youngjae from the exit.
"shit," youngjae cursed under his breath. as he tried to reason with the man, you looked around the room for any way out. after realizing that the blocked door was the only way out of the building, you turned back to the man.
you took in his features. your brain flashed to only 20 minutes prior; the picture frames that filled the office behind you. the man looked eerily similar to the man that was photographed in the pictures.
"sir?" you squeaked. youngjae turned to you, his eyes wide and his finger pressed to his lips, practically begging you to not get involved.
"sir, how would your little girl feel if she knew what you were doing this exact moment? my guess is she's only... let's say.. five or six? it would be heartbreaking for her to find out what you really did."
the mans face dropped, but he didn't stand down. so, you thought more, "and how about your pregnant wife? you're about to have a son, and you're really going to throw away the chance to ever see him just to be in this position right this minute? my guess is your wife doesn't even know this is your career. i bet you she thinks you're in a building, finding proof to defend someone in court, is that right?" the more you spoke, the more let down the man seemed. it's like he shrunk at your words.
"you have," he started to speak, "three second to get out of here, or i'm pulling this trigger." he said sternly. with that he pulled a gun from his waistband and pointed it at the two of you.
you acted quick, nodding your head hurriedly. you couldn't have youngjae calling the shots and ruining your plan.
you secured black gloves to your hands and grabbing hold of one of youngjae's. before making a run for it, you took a mental shot of the scene around you. highlighting on the broad man in front of you. you tug on youngjae's hand, signaling it was time to run.
and so, you did. you ran passed the man, and out the door. however, not without grabbing two key things.
