Jay had her hands in her pockets as she looked about her. She sighed annoyingly and Bucky turned around.

"Bored already?"

"Pretty much." She replied with a chuckle.

"I'm sure some sort of mayhem will turn up. Have faith." Bucky said sarcastically.

"Very funny." Jay added turning around.

It was kinda boring. There was literally nothing happening and she was stuck starting at random people in the mall. She never realize how exhausting being bored could be.

"Bluejay."

The familiar voice of the Professor rang through her head softly.

"Yeah?" She asked in her mind.

"The mutant is very near and is powerful. He can sense your power and i fear that he wishes to harm you."

Jay suddenly became tense and went on alert.

"Where is he?"

"Very near. He is looking for you."

"What do I do?"

"Listen carefully, because you are such a unique and powerful mutant, he can find you easily. You have an ability to share this power with another person. It only is shared through close physical contact, but you musn't draw attention to yourself. Quickly, he's getting closer."

Jay's heart was pounding as she spun around, trying to think of something to do. She saw Bucky. She didn't even have to think.

One moment he was looking about the people in the mall and turning to talk to Jay, and the next, his collar was grabbed and he was wrenched forward and down, lips pressed against his. He was in shock at first then his hands hesitantly rested on her hips.

"Bucky? Can you hear me?"

Bucky almost stopped kissing her but decided that was about the dumbest idea ever.

"Jay? What the HELL is going on?"

"I'm sharing my powers with you so the mutant thinks it's just two mutants."

"Then WHY are you kissing me?" He asked seriously.

"We needed to be in some close, physical contact."

"And a hug couldn't suffice?"

"No. Because public displays of affection make people uncomfortable. He won't bother us then."

"Oh. Ok."

"So Bucky, is he gone? Take a look."

"........"

"Bucky?"

"....................."

"Bucky??"

"....................................."

"Bucky Barnes!!!!! YOU ANSWER ME THIS MINUTE!!!!"

"What?"

"You weren't answering me."

"..........................."

"Bucky?!?!"

"WHAT?!"

"Stop drifting off!!! What is WRONG with you?!"

She stopped. There was silence and then guilt. Bucky's lips pulled away from her own and they remained only an inch away. Jay was breathing a little heavily as was Bucky, but there was something about his demeanor was off. She saw his glow turn crimson and she was trying to find out if he was angry or miserably sad.

She took in a breath to speak, but he stepped back, his hands at there places on her shoulders. His thumbs were barely touching the skin of her throat, but just enough to make her shiver. He was looking at her, but at the same time he seemed like he was looking into her very soul. She couldn't help but to stare into his mesmerizing eyes and remain immoble. There was something there that she didn't quite get. Was he hurt? Angry? Annoyed? It almost killed her trying to figure it out when a voice in her head sounded.

"Duck Bluejay!!!"

Without a moment's notice she grabbed Bucky and threw herself back onto the floor as a flash of light nearly missed Bucky's head. Jay landed on the hard floor with a loud thud and immediately the pain rushed through her skull and entire skeleton. She groaned and opened her eyes to see Bucky's arms over her head and his own, protectively.

The dust from the broken pillar next to them rained down on them as Bucky looked down at her.

"Bucky, I ~~~"

Jay was cut short by the figure of Steve Rogers leaping in front of them with his shield to deflect the ball of energy that was hurdling toward them.

"Get up love birds!"Crys shouted as her wings unfurled.

Quickly, Bucky and Jay scrambled to their feet and went on the defensive, Jay's wings now seen in a shade of grey and white and brown.

"Lets do this." Jay said.

"On my mark." Steve said, " Three. Two. One. Now!"
