Crys sat on the bed, her knees against her chest and her chin on top of them. Silent and warm tears slipped down her cheeks as a growing sense of fear spread through her.
She didn't know why she had done what she did to Deadpool and the clone of Doom, she really did not know why or how. it was as if another person came into her and took control of her, causing her to do these things.
She remembered when Charles was speaking to Her and Jay about their powers. Because their powers were so fast the only way their consciousness could handle it was to create a separate conscience. This conscience would emerge at a certain trigger, in Jay's case it was anger. That was when she would "go black" as they called it. This gave Charles the idea that Jay had the consciousness of Crow, a powerful yet deadly set of powers.
For herself, however, Crys was told that she had that of Dove, an opposite consciousness that should not be reckoned with. The consciousness had never emerged and judging upon the constancy of her white wings, Crys was dubbed Dove.
However, Crys had different thoughts. If Dove, as she was told, was one to enact justice where it should be placed and acted on logic, reason and mercy, why did she feel so much fear and hate when confronted with Deadpool and Doom's clone?
Crys then began to run scenarios through her head of her training with Steve or Logan or even arguing with Charles and then her, just suddenly snapping. Thought of her trying to kill Steve came to her mind and she covered her eyes with her hands.
"No," she said, "No."
She stood and then stumbled to the floor as a voice in her head kept repeating,
"You are the monster. You are the monster."
"No," Crys sobbed, "No, I can't be." she covered her face with her hand, trembling as fear overwhelmed her, "I'm not a monster." she whined, "That wasn't me."
She repeated these words as her last ditch effort to convince herself that she wasn't, but it was in vain. Soon Crys broke down into uncontrollable sobs as she trembled with fear at what she really was.
Suddenly Steve knocked on the door, with Jay beside him.
"Crys," Jay called, "Are you alright?"
Crys stopped. The tips of her fingers tingled as she pulled them from her face. A cold shiver ran up her spine and she shut her eyes, taking in a breath.
"Crys?" Jay called.
"I think I should talk to her." Bucky said, as he made his way beside them, "She seems to be acting scared about something, maybe even unsure ...... I think I should take this one."
He looked at Jay and let his fingers lightly touch her hand. She felt a shiver and she smiled at him nervously.
"Are you going to be ok?" she asked him.
"Ill be fine. Stop worrying about me," he laughed as they walked down the hall a bit. "We're not married yet."
"What?!" Jay replied, and she blushed as Bucky smiled and turned away, knocking lightly on the door.
"Crys," he began, "Its just me. Are you alright?"
Crys's now white eyes looked at the door and she stood, striding over to it.
"Bucky?"
"Yeah, I'm here."
She said nothing in response and Bucky cleared his throat, glancing back at Jay.
"I want to talk to you. You see, Steve and Jay are very concerned about you."
"Jay?" she cut in.
"Yeah?" Bucky now had no clue what was going on.
The door handle suddenly turned and slowly, Crys walked out, her eyes downcast.
"Crys." Jay called from the other end of the hall.
Crys looked up and Steve and Jay furrowed their brows. A grin came to Crys's lips and she turned to Bucky saying,
"I like you. I think I'll spare you this time."
"Crys?" Bucky said, taking a step back, " Your eyes. You--"
Not a moment later, Bucky was thrown back down the hall and against the wall. Crys turned to frightened Jay and Steve and said,
"Aren't you going to welcome an old friend?"
"What is going on Crys?!" Jay shouted, her anger rising.
Crys frowned and she said,
"I am not Crys." she smiled and made a mock bow saying, "I am Crow."
