CHAPTER THIRTY NINE

SOUTHERN'S POV

I slowly opened my eyes and saw a dim light illuminating the whole room. I looked beside me and saw an old man staring at me with so much admiration on his eyes.

I could see my reflection on his eyes. I feel like I am seeing an old man version of myself. He is right, I am his daughter.

"You passed out. That's a shame, Southern" he broke the silence between us.

I didn't just passed out. Someone punched me hard that I hit on the water tank that caused my trance. I wanted to blurt out that but I refused to speak. Instead, I rolled my eyes and sat on the bed. I noticed that I am now wearing my pajama and a big white shirt. I suddenly got curious who changed my clothes. Genesis or any of the Crane? That thought terrified me.

"It's your Sister. Nothing to worry."

I sighed in relief. Mabuti naman.

I pulled my sheets up to my stomach level, placed a pillow on my lap and looked at him with curiousity.

"So, did you came here to humiliate me?" I asked directly. Tumingin ako sa paligid. I am in my room, here in Crane's house. It's funny how he used my Mom and the Crane family over me. And it's too ironic that it did work on me.

Seeing him here again for the second time bothered me. He won't come here for nothing. He always come with something that will wreck me. I knew him too well. His presence brings threat in my life. Nakaramdam ako ng pangamba.

"Or did you came here because you found out something that you can use against me again?" dagdag ko pa.

He remained cold and silent.

"Do you always think me on that way? Do I really look bad?" he asked instead of answering my questions.

He looked at me with hurt and sadness on his eyes. Umiwas ako ng tingin. I focused my gaze on my colorless nails. I gritted my teeth as I gripped the sheets.

"Am I scaring you, Southern?"

I bit my lower lip. I looked at him and saw how desperate he is for my answer. I saw how it hurts him. I saw how his questions affect him.

Naalala ko noong bata pa ako. He was always nice and sweet to me. I was his baby princess. He became cold and distant. He was no longer treating me like his princess. That was started when I saw how they fight Mom about something. I was grade five back then. I was crying all night, thinking what I did wrong for him to get mad at me. From then, he started treating me like his people. He started making commands and strict rules for me.

He affects my life so much. He made me planted in my head that he is a threat, and not a loving father.
