Noah seemed to be taken by surprise. He didn't pull his lips away from mine but he didn't return the kiss either.

Softly, I moved my lips against his causing him to loosen his grip. I brought my hand up to his cheek and caressed it carefully.

Then, finally Noah kissed me back. He pulled my waist even closer to him and moved his lips in unison with mine.

My skin felt like it was burning while my knees were getting weak. I still couldn't believe this was happening. Minutes earlier I wasn't even sure if I could find Noah...

As if feeling my sudden faintness, he ran his fingers down to my thighs and pulled me up. Almost automatically, I wrapped my legs around waist causing a small moan to escape Noah's lips.

I let Noah's tongue enter my mouth but regretted it immediately. My desire was threatening to overwhelm me. That's when I realized, if I didn't stop this right then and there, our bodies would go all the way.

I broke our kiss avoiding Noah's gaze. It would cloud my judgement all over again. Carefully, he let me down. "I'm sorry," I whispered into the silence.

When I finally looked at him, Noah's eyes widened as if realizing something. He took a step back breaking our touch. "You're right. This is wrong!"

Hastily, he turned around and reached for the door. I held his hand as tightly as possible. "No! You can't do that. I have finally found you and you're just leaving again?" My voice broke mid sentence.

Noah looked back at me, his eyes filled with sorrow and regret. "Please," he breathed.

I swallowed hardly before answering, "If you walk out of this door, I'm done. Noah, I can't do this anymore. I have been chasing you for weeks and all you do is to push me away. This is your last chance to explain what's going on!"

For what felt like an eternity, he kept his eyes on the ground and stayed silent. It was pure torture but I gave him some time to think.

Then, he finally spoke up. "Close your eyes." I bit my lower lip, unsure if I should obey. "Please," he added in a whisper.

I released a deep breath and did as told. Noah released himself from my grip, only to place both his hands on my cheeks. With my eyes closed his touch was even more intense than before. My blood was rushing up to my cheeks but I stayed still.

I felt his warm breath on my face. Then, something soft was touching my forehead. His kiss was slow and gentle.

"You're going to be okay." Noah murmured and broke our touch. When I heard the door squeaking, I ripped my eyes open but Noah was already gone.

Joe's POV:

I had been searching for almost 20 minutes. Still, there was no sign of Noah, Aileen or Chloe which meant I had to go back to the entrance.

Chloe would be heartbroken that we hadn't found Noah but we still had a chance at the third school. I just hoped Chloe had held her promise not to do anything stupid.

I fought my way through the crowded hallway when a familiar voice shouted my name. Quickly, I turned around to face Noah.

I walked over to him and embraced him in a hug. "Finally... We've been looking for you for hours!" I said relieved but Noah didn't share my excitement. Taking a closer look, I noticed that his eyes were puffy and his lips were pale. "Are you okay, buddy?"

"You have to stop this." He returned.

"What are you talking about? We wanted to bring you back home and honestly, you look like you need to come back."

"Joe, I told you that I couldn't see Chloe anymore. Don't you realize what you're putting her through? She was hopeful and determined to bring me back but I just can't. You need to keep her as far away from me as possible. So she... we can both find closure." Noah sounded desperate.

"What I'm putting her through...? You led her on for months, she broke up with her boyfriend because of you and now all you do is to push her away like she misread the whole situation. I know for a fact that you like her the same way that she likes you. So why are you doing this?"

"I will tell you one day but not right now. Please, just keep her from coming here again. It's not worth it." With that being said Noah disappeared back into the crowd.

I took a few deep breaths trying to figure out what to tell Chloe. Besides, I didn't even want to know what state she was in after seeing and losing Noah again.

Aileen was already waiting for me at the school's entrance but there was no sign of Chloe. "Finally... I was starting to worry about you. Have you seen Chloe?"

"No," I bit my lower lip in frustration, "but I've seen Noah and judging from our conversation he's seen Chloe too."

Aileen's eyes widened immediately. "What did he say? Where is he? Why didn't he come with you?"

"I think we should find Chloe first. I'll explain everything later."

Aileen and I called Chloe over and over again but she didn't pick up. We searched every single corner until Aileen came to a stop. "Wait a second." Her eyes were fixated on a storeroom's door.

"What's wrong?"

"I think I'm hearing something..." When I stepped closer, I heard it too. Someone was crying. Aileen carefully opened the door.

I walked up behind her to see Chloe squinting into the light. She sat there, curled up on the ground, her eyes puffy and her lips pale. Her expression was the same as Noah's... maybe even worse.

Aileen rushed to her friends side and held her tightly. "I swear to god if he doesn't have a good reason for this, I'm going to kill him." She murmured.

I closed the door behind me and sat down on the ground. There was nothing I could say to make things better.
