Aileen's POV:
"Where are we going?" Mark asked me after a while. Honestly, I had no idea but I had to keep him away from Chloe.
"Outside..." I stuttered
"Just let me get my jacket." He pulled away from me towards a small wardrobe and I let him. There was no use in dragging him outside when he was ten times stronger than me.
After fetching his jacket Mark willingly followed me through the door until I came to a stop. "So, explain!" I spat out. He just raised his eyebrows at me. "Why can't you leave Chloe alone? You screwed things up and now it's over."
"Do you really want to know?" I nodded as quickly as possible. "I have lost everything and I know it's not her fault... but after the breakup everyone sided with Chloe even my closest friends. And what do I have left? Miranda's in prison, everyone's staring at me with disgust in their eyes and the only girl I ever had a real relationship with is chasing after another guy. What do you think that feels like?"
My teeth were chattering from the cold. I should have taken a jacket with me as well. "Maybe you should have thought about the consequences before you had an affair with our freaking teacher."
"I know it was stupid. But there was just something about the secretiveness and tension of not getting caught... Wait, you're shivering." Before I could open my mouth to object Mark wrapped his jacket around my shoulders. "Better?"
"Yes, thank you," I whispered feeling kind of guilty.
I looked back up to see Joe standing beside Mark. "What's going on?"
Quickly, I removed the jacket from my shoulders and handed it back over to Mark. "We were just talking like you and Stacey were." I said a bit too harshly.
Mark looked sincerely confused. "Speaking of Stacey, weren't you just about to go upstairs and lose your virginity to her?"
"What?" Joe's eyes widened in shock. That's when I couldn't take it anymore. I broke out into laughter. "Is there something you want to tell me, love?" Joe chuckled in my direction.
"Love?" Mark asked. "I thought you... What's going on?"
"Don't worry about it." I smiled at Mark.
Our plan had finally worked which meant Joe and I didn't have to be a secret anymore. I interlaced my fingers behind his neck before smashing my lips against his.
Joe was smiling against my lips as he picked me up from the ground. I wrapped my legs around his waist in response and let him carry me away from Mark. When I broke our kiss, I saw Mark still standing in the very same spot with a dazzled expression on his face.
"Where are we going?" I whispered into Joe's ear.
"Somewhere private..." His voice was low, almost promising. As I caressed the skin of his neck with my lips, his grip on my thighs tightened.
For a split second, I thought back to my conversation with Chloe but while Joe gently laid me down on his bed, all my worries vanished into nothing.
Chloe's POV:
I pushed myself through crowds of people until I reached the front door. Joe and Aileen were gone, probably enjoying their newfound freedom.
"Chloe," someone shouted from outside. I turned my head to see a dark figure approaching me. My breath fastened and I held my phone as tightly as possible.
Finally, Cole stepped into the light. "I have great news." He stated.
"Thank God, it's you." I chuckled. "I have great news too. Stacey will withdraw her charges."
Cole's eyes widened in surprise. "How did you do that?"
I took my phone out of my pocket and pressed play. Stacey's voice filled the air. "We hooked up after he told me that he liked me and a few days later I caught him with another girl. I was really angry and wanted him to pay, so I told everyone that he had harassed me... Can I leave now?"
"I can't believe it." Cole wrapped his arms around me taking me by surprise. "Thank you, Chloe."
After pulling away, I smiled at him. "It's not a big deal."
"Okay, now it's my turn. I asked a few people about Noah. Most of them have lost contact with him but there was one guy who told me that he moved to the east side of the city. I did some research and found out that there are only three high schools in that district. Noah has to go to one of them."
The brightest smile crept up on my face. I could finally find Noah and bring him back. "You have no idea how much that means to me. If you ever need anything else, just tell me, okay?"
"I think we're even." Cole laughed before I ran back into the house, up the stairs.
Frantically, I knocked against Joe's bedroom door. "Whatever you guys are doing in there, it can wait. I need your help." I shouted through the closed door.
There was a groan on the other side, followed by loud footsteps. Joe opened the door... shirtless. I looked over at the bed to find Aileen in nothing more than her underwear. They both looked like they were about to kill me. "Bad time?" I asked as carefully as possible.
"You think?" Joe returned sarcastically.
I ignored his comment. "I've talked to Cole and showed him the tape..."
"And you interrupted us to tell us that?" Aileen snorted.
"There's more. He knows where Noah is."
"Really?" They both asked in unison.
"Well, not really... But Noah is going to one of three possible schools. So, who wants to join my search team." I looked back and forth between Aileen and Joe.
Aileen finally spoke up. "And you couldn't have waited until tomorrow to tell us that?"
"No, we have to start looking for him as soon as possible."
Joe cleared his throat. "I hate to be the one to tell you that but it's Friday. School doesn't start until next Monday."
"But we have to start planning..."
"Alright, Chloe, we'll see you tomorrow." Carefully Joe pushed me through the door and shut it behind me.
