Unknown POV:
It had been weeks since I started texting her and at first everything had worked perfectly. Chloe had no idea who I was but eventually she started to trust me which was more than I could have ever wished for. I felt so relieved that I could help her with everything she was going through. Of course, if it was up to me I would have crushed Colin and Mark for what they had each done to her. But I knew that she would have never forgiven me. That was one thing I loved about her. Even after all the things that had happened, she still had a pure soul. Chloe always saw the best in people and maybe she could even manage to forgive me...
As I was saying, everything worked out well until François came into the picture. Who did he think he was? Just turning up like this and acting like he had known Chloe for years... He was a pretentious douche if you asked me. But of course, Chloe was so blinded by his charm and his stupid French accent that she didn't see him for who he really was.
Anyway, I was on my way to school when I saw Chloe and François standing in the parking lot. Chloe had her arms crossed, clearly uncomfortable while François was playing with a strand of her hair. I just wanted her to push his hand away and leave but she didn't. Why did she even spend time with him?
After a while she wrapped her arms around him and pulled him close. My whole body tensed but I managed to control myself... until our eyes met. Chloe let go of him as soon as she saw me. Her expression was completely blank. I couldn't read a single thing out of it which drove me crazy.
Her beautiful brown eyes were still fixated on me while François started talking to her again. Out of nowhere, a hand touched my arm, squeezing it lightly. "What are you waiting for? We're going to be late for class.", Maggie said pulling me towards the school's entrance.
"You're right." I smiled at her. When I looked back over to Chloe and François. Her lips were pressed on his. The anger inside of me was rising immediately but Maggie pulled me further away from them.
I followed her into Mrs. Gregory's classroom. Everyone had already taken their seat except for Chloe and Colin - he was still in the hospital...
Even when Mrs. Gregory entered the classroom Chloe was nowhere in sight. She was probably still getting sucked up by her precious 'new boyfriend'.
"Are you okay?", Maggie asked from beside me, "You look like you could kill someone right now."
"What...? Yeah, I'm fine." Obviously, that was a lie. But why should I tell her about it? So I focused my attention back on the teacher.
"It looks like Miss Anderson is sick today - how convenient...", Mrs. Gregory pointed out putting on a fake smile.
"I'm here!", Chloe shouted as she rushed through the door towards her empty seat.
Chloe's POV:
"May I ask you why you are late to my class... again?" Mrs. Gregory's jaw tightened as she stared at me.
"I - I was stuck in traffic." I shrugged not bothering to apologize. This woman had done enough. I would definitely not degrade myself in front of her.
She walked over to me and placed her hands on my desk. "I don't like your attitude young lady! You can't behave like that in MY class."
"Oh, I'm gonna behave however the hell I want to!", I practically spat in her face.
"That's enough!", she screamed, "You have detention... for a whole month. I really can't deal with a girl like you anymore!"
"Why? Because you're jealous of her love life? Maybe you should try to get your own...", Joe said loud enough for her to hear. He shouldn't have done that...
I just stared at him in shock while he gave me an apologetic smile. Mrs. Gregory, on the other hand, was furious. Her face turned dark red and her jaw tightened like she was about to kill him. "Out! Both of you! Now!"
I flinched in front of her. All I could do was to pack up my things and leave, quickly followed by Joe.
As soon as the door was closed, Joe came closer and embraced me in a hug. "I'm so sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable in there. I just couldn't stand her getting away with all of this anymore. Nobody should be treated like this... especially not you."
I was speechless. Joe had always been a jerk. I never thought that he could be more than an arrogant fuckboy who - I have to admit - threw great parties. But him apologizing to me... that was new. "It's okay. She deserved it.", I smiled at him trying to hide how surprised I was.
"Come on. Let's get out of here. This place always bums me out."
"Shouldn't we go to the headmaster's office?", I asked raising my eyebrows.
"And tell him what?" He had a point. Everything I could tell the headmaster, would have only made things worse. "You know I'm right.", Joe said with a smirk on his face and outstretched his hand.
"You can be such a dork." I walked past him without giving him the satisfaction of taking his hand.
With a few big steps Joe caught up with me. "And you can be a real nerd. But I'm still hanging out with you, aren't I?"
I gave him a half smile before leaving the school side by side.
