Olivia Pov:
"Do you think they survived the fall?" I ask, as we come to a stop near the fallen bridge.
"I'm pretty sure a little fall wouldn't be able take them out that easily," Petra commented, while glancing at me.
"Maybe we can try following the stream..," Axel suggests.
"Or...we can try searching around here for them first," Petra says and I gaze down at the fallen bridge that's somehow still submerged in the rapid water's.
By the time I look up Petra was already building a new bridge.
Please be alive...
Jesse Pov:
The few flickering flames of the dying fire went out and I clutched Lukas' leather jacket tighter.
My leg was still badly wounded and there's no way I'm walking on it again anytime soon.
I saw no need for Reuben to heal my injured leg right away since even if he did we'd probably still have to rest for a bit.
After all we just fell off a bridge and landed on a stranded island to who knows where.
I mean even if we do get off this island we still won't know where to go first.
Lukas' plan isn't too bad, but the stream could seperate and then what? Or we could be traveling in the opposite direction of Beacontown.
I close my eyes, my back against the smooth surface of the dimly lit cave.
I'm just afraid. What if things go wrong?
For once I'm actually being pessimistic.
"How you holding up Jesse?"
I open my eyes and glance at Lukas.
"Could be better could be worse type of thing..," I say, averting my gaze.
Lukas sits down beside me, his arm automatically wrapping around me.
I grab his hand, even if I'm physically unable to feel his warm or cold touch.
Lukas gazes at me, his one eye sparkling.
I'm just glad he's alright honestly, but I have to keep in mind that the war isn't over just yet.
I lean my head on Lukas' shoulder and his grip around me tightens.
"...I'm just happy to be stuck here with you..," I whisper gently.
"I could say the same."
I close my eyes.
"I love you Jesse..," Lukas whispers softly.
"I love you too Lukas."
(Olivia Pov):
The rustling of leaves catch my attention, but before I could check out what the sound was a little baby sheep came rushing out.
I glance behind me and Axel's forehead was creased, multiple lines running across his forehead.
He seemed very focused to say the least.
I turn my attention in front of me again.
"Lukas! Jesse!" I call out. My feet crunch leaves and the wind howls.
Sylvia was taken hostage, but what if Jesse and Lukas were too!
What if this is all just a set-up to distract us!
Or..or what if something worse happened to them!
I fiddle with my fingers and stressfully mess with my red sleeves.
These last two months have been chaos, especially for Jesse.
Small attacks on Beacontown made Jesse very stressed out and even though Petra's large army had taken them all out, Jesse was still extremely stressed.
Especially since some casualties of her own people had sadly occured.
And who could blame her. I'm sure running a town is hard enough, but now her people are in danger as well. And on top of that some lives were lost.
That has to be extremely stressful for Jesse.
She's lost so much in a short amount of time. Reuben, her life (multiple times), her arms and it's very sad to say that it's not over yet.
She could still lose so much and so can the rest of us.
But Jesse...out of everyone has lost the most, but she's been denying it lately.
I have no clue why, but she is ..so what can I do.
"Jesse!" Axel calls out, startling me.
I jump and Axel rubbed the back of his neck as he walked by my side.
"Sorry Liv. I didn't mean to scare you," Axel says.
"
No...no it's fine," I say, entwining his large hand with mine."They aren't here Axel," I say then sigh.
"Let's head back then," Axel says and with that we turn around.
"You know they fell into the water right Axel?"
"I know," He replys.
I sigh and shake my head, "They just can't catch a break...no matter how hard they try..."
