Genesis pov:
I was smirking as I put my ebony hair in a ponytail and wrapped an emerald colored ribbon to top it off. I gazed at my reflection in the mirror.
"That's a shame Father always loved your hair better when it was down."
My sister gazed back at me in the mirror and I clenched my fists.
"Mother... however never."
I clenched the countertop, breathing heavily as I lowered my brows.
"She never even loved you."
Quickly, I picked up a hairbrush and furiously threw it at the mirror, shattering it. Glass shards fell, but I could care less.
"I never needed her love," I muttered enraged, "After all, it only made you weak Genesee."
Memories flashed in my mind. "That's all you'll ever be to your daughter is weak. Your a woman who could never care for her, a woman who was always absent..." My eyes glowed as I laughed hysterically, "And the best part... a woman who died because of me."
My laughter ceases to giggling.
"Brokenness was all I needed... and its all I need to get into their little minds too," I spat, hastily.
Jesse pov:
After the explosion had rang out, Beacontown was completely destroyed.
I walked over to Sylvia who had a hand on her head as she lay, gazing up at the azure sky. She was coughing and groaning pretty badly.
She looked even worse than before and the agony in her expression told me she was in unbearable pain.
"S...Sylvia."
I stood before her, holding my ribcage while outreaching my hand to her.
"I... I can't move," She says weakly.
I nod briefly before picking her up steadily. I began walking towards Ivor and after a few seconds, I stopped hastily.
"No... No no," I said faintly.
I put Sylvia down quickly and hastily rushed over to Ivor.
He was bleeding pretty badly, in fact his body was full of the substance. It was a sickening sight to say the least.
I felt sick to my stomach as I gazed at Ivor.
This is bad oh this is very bad.
"Ivor," I said shakily, a lump forming in my throat.
He glanced up at me, his expression full of the pain he was most likely feeling.
"I'll be fine," He said gruffly.
Suddenly I heard screaming.
I glanced over my shoulder and my heart instantly dropped.
Sylvia had her head buried in her hands, her silky hair cascading over her face. She was thrashing around slightly.
Large tears rolled down from her eyes and sobs of affliction took away the tense silence.
Her grip on her hair tightened as she shook uncontrollably.
My heart was pounding rapidly and my breathing hitched as I gazed at her wordlessly.
She brought her knees up to her chest slowly while screaming and desperately wailing.
Much to my relief, I saw Petra run over to her and embrace her tightly.
"Jesse...."
I turned to Ivor.
"My healing potion," He mumbled weakly.
I nod briefly and grab a healing potion from his robe pocket. I was in shock... I've never seen Sylvia act that way before.
Sylvia pov:
This is all my fault...
I clenched my silky hair.
My whole family is died and I'm still alive... I'm left with the burden they left me when they passed once more.
Tears quickly roll down my cheeks. It's over... It's really over.
Another pained sob escapes my lips. A desperate cry... A broken cry for help.
Someone's arms were wrapped around me tightly.
With my remaining strength, I pushed them off me weakly.
"I don't need your sympathy," I say firmly, as I clench my fists. Helplessly though, I break down even more.
"I don't deserve it," I say, my voice cracking, "I don't deserve it!"
"...Sylvia," Petra says softly, as she pulls me back into her embrace. I don't resist after all what's the point?
"You do deserve it," Petra breathed nonchalantly, "If anyone.. You deserve it."
"No..no I don't," I mumble as more tears roll down my cheeks.
Petra pov:
I was holding Sylvia like my life depended on it.
I knew she was slipping, I know she's losing her mind. The once earnest and composed Sylvia was now an emotional wreak and having a mental breakdown right before my eyes... And this was difficult for me to watch.
But after everything, she's been through hell and back, so who could blame her for her reaction?
---
We ended up traveling and stumbled upon a cave for the night since Beacontown was completely destroyed.
A dimly lit torch was lighting up everyone's faces.
Sylvia well... She hasn't spoken at all, instead she's been rubbing her eyes half the time we were here.
Ivor was leaning against Jesse. He was really frail, but hanging on.
Nick seemed down and was besides Sylvia, occasionally rubbing her shoulder or patting her on the back.
Jesse was lost in deep thought, she seemed shaken up.
Mainly, I was in shock. We thought this was over... Only to end up losing the fight and many people along the way.
But this was it... The battles over and there's no way we can recover from such a devastating blow like this.
I hate to admit it, but it's game over for us.
