I resist tapping my foot anxiously against the solid ground, but the temptation is steadily growing.
Sylvia was still holding on to Sylvie, her face still buried in her shoulder.
The only thing that was really worrying me was if she suddenly went back to that 'state' because it definitely wouldn't end very well.
The atmosphere felt very heavy and I remained rather stiff. It was very obvouis that the others didn't know what to say or do and it felt slightly awkward to be honest.
Sylvia's faint sobs had calmed faster than I had expected and I was still trying to wrap my head around the whole thing.
I feel like something's missing here. There has to be more to this whole thing.
But why is Sylvia being used just to capture me? Besides if Genesis could cause her relative all this suffering then she definitely wouldn't hesitate to do it to any of us then.
But....I noticed that Genesis is just... breaking Sylvia gradually.
That fear in her eyes earlier... What was she afraid of? At that moment, what was there even to fear?
I rarely even see her show strong emotions like that, but whenever she does it catches me off guard. Plus, it always gives me this indescribable feeling that I can never shake off.
I know that anyone can be broken, no matter how tough or strong that person is. It just doesn't matter, but seeing a friend, who fought for you, just slowly breaking does something to you.
In the corner of my eye, I see Petra crossing her arms over her chest, immense worry clearly in her somewhat earnest expression.
Axel shifts slightly, awkwardly scratching the back of his neck as he gazes out the order hall.
Olivia slowly rubs her arm and occasionally adjusts her emerald colored beanie.
I didn't even notice that Sylvia and Sylvie separated from each other. Sylvia wipes her glossy eyes with the back of her leather sleeve and uneasily wraps her arms around her stomach again.
Sylvie supported Sylvia her arm around her sibling, making sure she didn't fall.
"...Are you OK?" Petra asks Sylvia, breaking the heavy atmosphere.
Sylvia shifts fraughtly and nods slightly. "I'll… be fine.. Just give...me a moment," Sylvia says, although something tells me otherwise.
She's going to need a lot longer than just a few moments.
I could feel Reuben's presence and I furrow my brow. He seemed… anxious, but why?
Was it the fact that Sylvia cried…?
No… He was there with me the first time she cried and had no reaction. Is something else wrong?
"Jesse… You do something… to me…," Sylvia says, her voice wavering. She clears her throat, "You put me… back in control.. Of myself."
Sylvia pauses, exhales slowly and asks. "But… how?"
"Whenever I touch you.. This… this wave of energy rushes by me… And then your back to your normal self again," I explain to the best of my ability and Sylvia looks a bit surprised or… is it shock. I really can't tell. "It's," I shift, "A really...weird feeling."
There was more to it than just that, but to avoid confusing them I kept it simple.
"That should be impossible!" Sylvie exclaims, "...That's remarkable."
"But that can be used to our advantage," Olivia says, Axel and Petra nodding in agreement.
I nod in agreement as well. It's true it really can be.
She wouldn't be able to capture me as long as I could touch her, but the downside is even with that advantage she could still be able to get me.
And what if she starts going after someone else in our group? Then what? That would really cause more problems.
My thoughts are suddenly interrupted by a sudden voice that I haven't heard in awhile actually.
"Petra ma'am."
"Nick? What are you doing here?" Petra asked, raising her eyebrow and uncrossing her arms.
"Enemy soldiers are attacking the west gate of Beacontown. Our army has them under control, but I'm afraid it won't last long ma'am," Nick explains while adjusting his glasses.
I gasp and so do the others. The news has me shocked to say the least.
"Alright sergeant. Run every procedure you know! Quickly, quickly!" Petra says in a firm voice.
Nick swiftly nods and rushes out the order hall, Olivia, Axel, and Petra rushing out as well.
I was about to sprint out of the order hall too, but I stop myself and gaze at Sylvie, who has her arm steadily wrapped around Sylvia.
"Go on Jesse. She can't fight at least not while she's in this state," Sylvie says.
"What if she y'know.. Turns back?" I ask, worry in my tone.
"I can handle that don't worry," Sylvie says rather confidently.
I nod, feeling a bit of relief at her words. I quickly sprint out of the order hall and Lukas silently runs beside me.
I ponder deeply as we sprint and wonder. What mess are we tangled up in now?
As we reach the west gate, I unsheath my sword and what was once a gate was no longer one.
The gate was completly torn down, reduced to rubble but the fight was still raging on.
Our forces were pushing forward, fighting with very impressive skills. But the other side was to and they weren't going to give up anytime soon.
Lukas and I quickly rush into action both of our glistening swords drawn.
We have to give this everything we got...
We have to.
