"Your total is $43.76."

Thomas swiped his card and then we were back in the car, this time to Ulta Beauty.

"Ok so I was thinking we'll just get the basics, so nail polish, eye shadow, eyeliner, and that one dark magenta shade of lipstick Maria likes."

"Sounds good. Ah the party place is calling now, hang on." I answered my phone. "Hello?"

"James Madison your order of balloons is ready for pickup," said the voice on the other line.

"Alright, Thank you."

"No problem, enjoy your day." The like went dead.

"The balloons are ready," I said turning to look at Thomas.

"Great. Then all we need is the cake."

"You bought cake?" I raised my eyebrows at his extra-ness.

"Of fucking course I bought cake. What kind of psychopath doesn't by cake for a party?" He parked the car.

I just laughed at him.

"Okay so I'm gonna try to keep this under $50 but that's probably not going to happen," Thomas rambled.

"You don't need to break your wallet for this, Thomas. Also, I think I'll go get the balloons it's not far from here."

"Okay I'll pick you up. And this is the most important thing that has happened in my life, so yeah I don't exactly mind spending a lot."

I rolled my eyes at that, resulting in Thomas giving me a peck on the the cheek.  Then off I went to the party store.

"Alright they're all coming at 7:30, that's only 45 minutes away." Thomas was pacing around the hotel room.

"Hey, stop worrying, this is going to go exactly how you want it to. I mean Alexander might kill someone but-"

"James!"

I laughed, "I'm kidding. But, really, it looks great. Everyone is going to love it."

It really did look great. There were streamers galore, balloons decorated the ceiling, and a table filled with every kind of snack in existence.

"Do you think it's okay I invited both Eliza and Alex? I mean they are exes..."

"It'll be fine." I gave him a smile.

"James... I have a confession before everyone gets here." He still looked worried, but he was dead serious now.

"Yeah? You can tell me anything." I grabbed his hand.

"Well, it's about the cake... the inside is... Rainbow." He took a deep breath. "I had to tell someone, it was supposed to be a secret so you have to act surprised when I cut it open." He still looked serious.

I couldn't help myself; I burst out laughing. "Oh Thomas, don't worry, your secret is safe with me."

He let out a deep breath. "Thank god."

"Hey, I think you're worrying too much, it'll be fine."

He just nodded, that anxious look still there.

"Thomas," I started, staring into his eyes. Oh, those eyes. "It's going to be perfect. It's already perfect." I pushed myself up on my tiptoes, cradled his face in my hands, and gave him a light kiss.

He put his hands over mine, deepening the kiss. He smiled against my cheek. "Thanks, James. I don't d-"

There was a knock at the door.
