I don't why Thomas was acting so weird about me going to Charles' party. I mean, honestly, I didn't really want to go.
I didn't really have to get ready or anything so I waited a few minutes after Thomas left, and then I left.
There was hardly a soul in the hallways. Charles' dorm was in the same building as mine so it wasn't a long walk.
The door was ajar when I got there, Drake was floating through the air and all 3 of them were lounging on the couch.
Isabella Bunbury was looking as beautiful as ever, her long hair in double braids. James Reynolds had a soccer jersey on and was on his phone. And then there was Charles being his gorgeous self.
"Aye!" Charles said when he saw me in the doorway. "You're late."
"Sorry," I mumbled. I slid onto the couch next to him.
He put his arm around me. "The games just about to start."
I turned my attention to the tv. The game went by excruciatingly slow. It was mid game and Charles kept glancing at Isabella's boobs. I mean not really but he kept stealing glimpses at her. It was so annoying, I felt like punching him the face and saying, You're already in a relationship, dumbass. But I've never punched someone before, I'd probably be more like a light slap than a punch if I attempted.
No had closed the door, which was weird, they weren't expecting anyone else.
Buzz, buzz
It was my phone. I got a text message.
I squirmed to reach into my back pocket.
Call me -Thomas.
How'd he get my number?
"Who is it?" Charles asked trying to get a look at my screen.
I clicked my phone off. "Uh... my mom. She needs me to call her. I'll be back." I stood up.
"Alright don't take to long, I have a feeling this game is about to get good."
I nodded, "Alright." I went into the hallway, made sure no one was around, then dialed the number that Thomas had texted me from.
He picked up instantly.
"Hello?" I inquired.
"James! Ohmygoshyouneedtotellmewhichdormcharles'is." His words were all connected and he sounded out of breath.
"I- what?"
"Ok honey listen up," it wasn't Thomas talking anymore.
"Maria?"
"Yes. Now which dorm is Charles'?"
"Why do you want to know?" I was growing suspicious. But it was a good kind of suspicion.
"C'mon James, don't be a party pooper."
"I'm not a party pooper."
"Then prove it."
"Fine it's..." I took a peek into the room to make sure Charles wasn't listening. "43... but I didn't tell you."
I heard giggles on the other end of the line. "Yes! Thank you James. I'll let you talk to lover boy now."
My face heated up.
"I don't really need to talk to you, 'cause I'll see you in a bit," Thomas whispered.
"What? Thomas... what're you doing?"
"Plotting a murder."
"No-"
"You're right, I'm not, but you'll see." Then he hung up.
I rolled my eyes. I couldn't believe that boy. I walked back into the room and sat down.
"What'd she want?" Charles asked.
"Oh... who? Oh right my mom, she wanted to know if I wanted corn or green beans for Thanksgiving dinner, you know how moms are." I added a fake laugh.
He eyed me like he knew I was lying then looked back at the television. I felt awful for lying... I shouldn't have to lie to my boyfriend. I didn't dwell on the thought for too long. Instead I thought about what Thomas and Maria were up to.
I didn't have to think long before there was a knock on the door frame. All four of turned our heads to see whom had made their presence known.
It was Thomas. But he was wearing a dress, and I had no clue why. It was a revealing red dress, and he looked amazing in it. Holy crap. I covered my mouth with my hand, trying to contain laughter.
"Who the hell are you?" James Reynolds broke the awkward silence.
"I am the great Thomaroni Macaroni. I am a magician, and today my trick is making my marvelous assistant, ReeRee, disappear!" He made large arm gestures. And Maria, wearing a suit and tie, joined him in the doorway.
I was dead.
Clearly Isabella, James, and Charles didn't know who they were.
"Umm no thanks," Isabella said, rolling her eyes.
"Oh no, really I insist, and I'll do it free of charge." Thomas was grinning.
"You normally charge?" James asked.
It was funny, Charles hadn't said a word.
"Yes, my shows are $5 per person. So consider yourselves lucky."
It was clear Thomas was a natural at acting but I could see Maria struggling against giggling.
"No, fuck off." Charles stated.
Thomas took that as, come on in, and strutted in, Maria followed in his wake.
"I'll just need a blanket..." Thomas spun around looking for one.
"Fuck off." Charles said again.
I grabbed a blanket off the chair next to me and tossed it at Thomas.
"Ah thank you, J- I'm sorry, what's your name?" I guess he had to pretend he didn't know me.
"Uh... James."
His grin grew wider, and it melted me. "Thank you, James." He stretched out my name and for some reason it sounded angelic. "Now on the count of 3. 1... 2... 3..." He threw the blanket on Maria and she just ran out of the room with the blanket on her head.
There was more awkward silence.
I started clapping. "Bravo!" I shouted. "Magnificent!"
Charles glared at me. Then at Thomas. "Are you some weird cross-dresser or something?"
"Yes!" Thomas smiled. "You caught me!"
I buried my face in my hands, I wouldn't laugh at this.
"I have one more trick, but I'll need a volunteer. How about you... I'm sorry I already forgot your name." He pointed at me.
"James," I said through laughs. I got up and stood by him. Charles looked sooooo pissed.
"This one is called... The Disappearance of an Absolute Complete Total Stranger." He waved his arms in front of my face, then leaned in my ear and whispered, "run."
I ran into the hallway and Thomas followed slamming the door behind him. He kept running down the hall.
"C'mon!" He yelled. "We gotta get out of here!!!"
We both sprinted down the hallway. Away from Charles. Away from the big problem I had. Away.
