My Life Is Going Downhill, WHEE

Samuel threw a pillow down from the top bunk.

"Shut uuuuupppp..." he groaned.

At least that was still normal.

I turned off my alarm and rolled out of bed. I felt like I was hungover. Well, I suppose what I was feeling felt like what I thought a hangover felt like.

I wanted to throw up, cry, and die all at the same time.

It was the first day of class since the holidays.

Yay, hell!

After getting dressed, I sent another text to Thomas. He hadn't spoken to me at all since New Year's Eve in the hospital.

I didn't even know if he was back yet.

Shit he could've died and I wouldn't have known.

No.

No way.

I pushed down the thought and left. When I opened the door, Maria was standing there with her hand up as if she were about to knock.

"James!" She smiled.

"Er... hi."

What was she doing?

I knew she was Thomas' right hand man. Or woman. Whatever.

"So you know how Roni and I were together for like all of break? Yeah, anyways, we did a lot of cool things and I think Thomas and you would like-"

"We're not together anymore."

"Sorry?"

"We're not together anymore," I said softer.

"Oh no, I heard what you said... but why? Why haven't I heard?" She started at me but when I didn't say anything her stern expression melted. "I'm sorry, boo."

She pulled me into a hug.

"Did Thomas hurt you? Because I can and will kick his sorry ass."

"He really hasn't told you?" I asked.

"No. And now come to think of it, that's strange. We've been talking like crazy these past few days."

At least he was alive.

"I swear to god," Samuel groaned, "if you don't take your friend out into the hallway to talk, I will break your fucking niko-niko-kneecaps."

Maria made room for me to step into the hallway and I closed the door behind me.

"But for real... mutual dumping? He dump you?" She gasped, "You dump him?"

"Uh... door number two," I muttered.

"Seriously, I'm going to march over to his dorm right now and slap across his stupid face. And be warned, if  you ever hurt him you will also be getting to know the back of my hand very well."

So, he was also back there. Hopefully, he'd be going to class.

"Don't do that."

"Why not?"

"I think he may be overreacting. It'll be fine. I'll talk to him in class, today. He can't ignore me if I'm in front of his face."

She gave me one last look of sympathy before I was off to class.

Turns out, Thomas could ignore me even if I was in front of his face.

I hadn't gotten the chance to talk to him, as I arrived just a smidge late. Damn stray cats.

He wasn't sitting by me.
