*Luke's POV*
I laid here in this small, uncomfortable, squeaky hospital bed, looking down at the frail body in my arms. Don't ask how I ended up here because honestly I couldn't answer that question. I just know that when I heard Erika talking about everything that had happened, she wasn't the only one horribly effected.
My life had taught me that everyone deals with things differently. That there isn't a right or wrong way of coping. Everyone is different. When Erika was talking to me, I noticed her unconsciously playing with a really familiar black bandanna. And then I remembered Ash telling the guys about the girl he had met tonight at the concert. It was at that moment I asked her if she knew who I was as I held her close, trying to calm her down enough so she could answer me. When she answered no, I realized just how out of it she really was. And I knew that I wasn't going to be able to help her at all, but I knew who would be, so when she wasn't looking, I texted Ashton asking him to meet me in the waiting room.
As soon as I was able to slip away, I went to the front desk and asked the lady where I could find Kaitlyn. A few questions later, I was making my way down the hall to a lonely hospital room.
Now that I lay here, holding this stranger, I couldn't help but smile and secretly thank Michael for being the dumbass he is and falling off the stage, breaking his leg.
A sudden movement took me out of my thoughts and back into the real world. As I watched her brows furrow in her sleep, I knew she must be having a nightmare. My hands ached to reach up and wake her softly, saving her from the dream, but I knew I shouldn't because she needed her rest. I couldn't take that away from her.
She calmed down for a moment before a full on fit made an appearence in the room. Kaitlyn's hands twitched and her arms flew around as words of rescue flew from her mouth. This time I knew I had no chance but to bring her out of her sleep.
"Do you want to talk about it?" I looked into her eyes, after five minutes of calming her down. She had the most gorgeous pair of eyes I had ever seen. They were the a teal blue with a tent of hazel green covering them. So much color in such a little space.
She searched my face, wondering if I was safe and my heart swelled with happiness when I saw her slight nod. I knew how much it took to trust a complete stranger with a load this heavy, but I also knew how important talking was when you were feeling this low with life.
"I-I don't know where to start." She sighed heavily, looking down at her folded hands.
"From the beginning." I helped her.
And she did. She told me a story similar to Erika's. Meeting Mary, falling in love as best friends, promising that it was together forever. Until the end. Everything was the same.
"Mary was our best friend...well, she was Erika's at least." Those words caught me off gaurd. Erika said nothing like this in her story.
"What do you mean was her's?" I asked, just to clarify.
She was silent for a second before slightly shaking her head with a soft smile. "Nothing. It was nothing."
Even though she tried to play it off as nothing, I knew better than to just let it slide. I grabbed her chin with my index finger and forced her eyes on mine. "It's not nothing." As I searched her eyes for the truth, her earlier words crept into my mind and then everything made sense. I nodded a bit as the puzzle pieces came together. "I think I get it." I whispered.
"You don't," She moved her head from side to side, her face falling, losing all smile she once had.
"You liked Erika most. She was your best friend, and when Mary died, you no longer had that compition to be her best friend, but at the same time, you lost a friend. You wanted to lean on someone, you wanted your best friend to cry too, but she was coping with things her own way so she didn't have enough support for you. It made you feel left out, forgotten and..."
