"So, we need to talk." I asked Finn as he grabbed a thick wooden stick. (Authors note: I'd say a bo staff but y'all know these kids are poor asf so they just get wood. I don't make the rules.)
"But, you want to talk as we train?" Finn chuckled. I moved the stick around in my hand as I nodded my head at him.
We had been in this place for a few weeks now, since Finn rescued me from my torture. The cuts on my arms were just scars now and my strength was coming back slowly. The bullet wound that I had in my ankle was very nearly healed. I had to keep on my feet to keep my ankle muscles moving and now I can walk, run, move on it just fine now.
"So, what do you want to talk about?" Finn asked me as we started fighting with the sticks. Ever since the torture happens with the demon lady, I had wanted to train in self-defence and weapons so I could be ready. Finn and Jack had been helping me everyday. Jack was a lot better with weapons that weren't guns but he had to leave yesterday to buy food for us so I was left with just Finn today. Finn had been helping me with my confidence with shooting guns and my aim. We still hadn't seen his dad at all after the gun firing at his house. We think he might have gone into hiding...
We hope he had gone into hiding...
Our wooden sticks slapped together as Finn blocked my moves.
"You need to be less predictable than that." He guided me and I swung out of it and went straight for his legs but he slapped my stick before he moved form defence to offends and slapped the stick out of my hand completely. I watched as it slid across the floor to the other side of the room. I ducked under his swing of the stick and grabbed the other end of it in an attempt to remove it out of Finn's hands. He kicked me in the stomach lightly and hit my arm so I would release my grip. I did and he kicked my healthy ankle so I fell on the floor, he placed the end of the stick on my chest.
"And you're dead." He teases me and removed his stick from being in contact with me. He placed the end on the floor and lent his elbow on it. I glared up at him and just sighed out.
"So, what did you want to talk about?" He asked as he offered me his hand to help me up."I found something." I got out as I wandered over to pick up my stick.
"What did you find?" He narrowed his eyes and twisted his eyebrows in confusion.
"Something of yours." I directly made eye contact with him and he looked at me with even more confusion. Poor boy had no idea at all.
"Found what of mine?"
"I found it a while ago. Was going to ask you about it and then well...you know, plans changed, I changed and now we ended up here." I spoke with a monotone voice as I shrugged my shoulders. We started training again, hitting our sticks together like we did before. However, before Finn could change tactics and beat me, I blocked his swing and grabbed his stick.
"I don't know what you're talking about if you don't tell me." He breathlessly spoke as we continued to fight and train. I ducked one of his movements and we moved around the room. Finn ended up grabbing my stick this time, his face directly in front of mine.
"I think you already know Wolfhard." I tried to move away from him but he dragged my stick away and threw it across the room, holding his stick up to my neck with both hands either side as the wood touched my skin.
"Please elaborate on what you're talking about." He spoke, still not following the conversation we were having.
"The list Finn." I choked out as the wood was held up to me.
"What list?"
"The list..." I grabbed hold of the wooden stick with both of my hands, ready to remove it from my windpipes.
"The list you made to destroy me." I finally got out. (If you thought the author forgot about this list until now then you are absolutely correct because she did oof)Finn's grip loosened as he was shocked so I took this as my opportunity to pull the stick form my neck and swipe it from Finn's grasp. Once he realised what had happened he tried blocking my motions but he failed. He fell to the floor and before he could get up, I held the stick up to his throat the same way he did, except this time Finn was kneeling with his back towards me.
"Did you think I wouldn't find the list Finn?" I whispered in his ear and heard him gulp.
"We made that list when I was pissed off at you for almost killing me. It wasn't real. It was a joke."
"We were 11 Finn. You really kept that bullying shit up for almost 7 years." I exasperatedly spoke.
"You almost killed me y/n." He yelled out and I unconsciously tightened the wooden stick on his throat and he grabbed it with two of his hands.
"But sadly you're still here." I teased without thinking about it.
"Ouch." He uttered out.
"Now get up, we have more training to do." I demanded him.
"Ok." Finn shrugged his shoulders, using his elbow to hit my pressure point on my thigh so I would release the stick. He then grabbed the stick with his other hand and swung his leg around to trip me up and I fell backwards. A few seconds later Finn hovered over me with the stick, poking it at my chest.
"And you're dead. Again." He smirked at me.
"If you're going to kill or knock someone out, don't talk to them first. Just do it." He teased me and I rolled my eyes and mocked his tone as I repeated his words..."Let's go again." I commanded this time and Finn's one eyebrow raised.
"You really love getting knocked down on your ass by me huh?"
"I guess I'm just a sucker for the pain." I poured my lips out as I joked.
"Kinky. That's hot." He winked as he joked around. I pulled disgusted face at him and just kicked him away from me.
"In your dreams Wolfhard." I helped myself up off the ground and retrieved my stick from the other end of the room.
Authors note:
So, in case you're confused as to why you and Finn are fighting with sticks (it is pretty random tbh)... It's practice for if you're stuck in an area where you have to pick up a stick shape object or something. Idk in my mind when I started writing this I had the idea of y/n having like a dagger or something but then idk cause I've ever used guns as weapons in this book series so far so why change it up now? I just liked this chapter idea and the training so here you go I guess.
