"Yes, Jane. I am so back. Miss me?" Floods of messages and missed calls. Talagang namiss nga ako ng pinsan ko.
"Anong trip 'yon?" Tumayo siya at humalik sa pisngi ko. "Three days? Talaga?" Sinarado niya yung laptop na kanina pinipindot niya.
"I miss you too!" Natawa ako nang tuluyan. "Babalikan kita dito if you need to discuss anything.
"I'll just come by your office, okay? I just need you to sign the papers for the new place we're opening in Makati." Panimula niya.
Ilang ulit akong tumango at pinakinggan siya.
"It's a good spot, spacious too. I think it'll take around three to five months since there's no second floor. The designs are pretty much the same as this one, just a few differences with the parking area." Paliwanag niya sa akin habang may pinapakitang litrato.
"I'm already trying to visualize the branch..." She added.
Tumingin ako sa relo sa aking palapulsuhan, wondering how long it will take us.
"Anyway, I'll come see you."
No wonder I received a lot of messages and missed almost all of her calls.
Black slacks, red tux, red heels, red lipstick and her high and tight ponytail.
Wow.
"I actually need a partner."
"I'll just ask permission for you, okay? I really need a date. Nath will be there, and I know you won't like it if she ends up being my partner."
She sat down on the swivel chair right in front of my desk and gave me a look from head to toe.
"Yup, you need to change..." she muttered just loud enough for me to hear.
"Malamang!
I have some spare clothes here. Since dresses are one of my favorite types of clothing, I have a lot just sitting in the cabinet.
Some of them even still have the price tags on. Today might be the day for them.
"Just talk to Jane for a while as I get ready, okay? I'll call you once I'm done fixing myself," I said with a small smile before walking toward a door tucked quietly at the side of the room.
It opened into a space you wouldn't normally expect to find in an office. It wasn't big, but it was enough.
Like a small private room, almost hidden, filled with things that clearly didn't belong to a typical workspace—clothes, shoes, a mirror with soft lighting, and little personal touches that made it feel more like a quiet retreat than anything else.
