Emma's POV

"Brendon! Hi."

"Hi." Brendon frowns. "Is that all you have to say to me?" He takes a step forward but Leo puts a hand on his shoulder. "Back up." Leo's warns through gritted teeth and Brendon looks shocked at Leo's hand on his shoulder.

"And what are going to do?" Brendon inches closer. Oh god, they can't fight. Brendon is strong and can definitely hold his own but Leo is all of that plus he has skills in ass kicking. I knew this fight would end only in one way.

"She's not your fiancé." Leo cockily smirks. "Oh yeah why don't you ask her then." I look at Leo and then back at Brendon. "Brendon just give me one second please." I was begging silently and he reluctantly nods and steps back.

"Leo please let's just go home, it's not what it looks like. I swear I will explain all of this, please." I urge him. Leo looks beyond angry. He starts clenching his fists and running a hand through his hair but finally nods. I sigh and turn to Brendon.

"Brendon I'm sorry, I will explain everything to you but I can't right now. I'll call you or something, again I'm sorry." I mumble fast and turn around. "No Emma wait, I'm not going to let you go with this...this stranger." Brendon holds my arm and sneers at Leo.

"Brendon, Leo isn't a stranger and he would never harm me, so don't worry I am perfectly fine. Please just go." I plead him once again.

"Emma no I can't—" Brendon starts to speak.

"Is he going to fuck off or not?" Leo says harshly cutting him off.

"Brendon just go." Brendon looks hurt and I feel a ton of guilt camping on my chest. He looks between Leo and I and then looks away for moment. "Okay, But I need an explanation Emma." I nod and he walks away but not before giving Leo a hostile glare which Leo gladly returns.

"Leo I—"

"Get on." He says gruffly and my heart sinks. I hop onto the bike and the short ride back home seems like an eternity. Once we reach home the silence is deafening.

"Explain." Leo says eerily low. "Give me one good reason that I shouldn't go out right now and beat the shit out of that mutt." He comes up to me yelling and I cower back.

"Why would you do that? It isn't Brendon's fault."

"He was touching you. Saying you're his fiancé." Leo grips my shoulders much too tightly. The pain hits my shoulders and I'm worried now. Not worried that Leo will harm me but worried about his anger.

"Leo you're hurting me." Leo's eyes widen and he immediately drops his hands and moves away from me. "Fuck! I didn't mean to—"

"I know." I assure him. I walk up to him but he shifts away from my touch like I've burnt him. It's like he's spiralling with his anger and suddenly flings a chair across the room.

"Leo please calm down. I don't even know why he used that word. Brendon is completely inconsequential."

"Calm down! So this is how it is." He faintly whispers. The air around has has suddenly become so cold. Even the moon seems to be bouncing away into the distance, leaving us in darkness. "You're just playing a game aren't you?"
