Back in Wakanda, a portal opened, revealing Thanos. The avengers advanced and began to fight him but were defeated. Heeding Steve's earlier orders, Caroline ran behind some shrubbery to stay out of harms way.
Thanos began fighting Wanda in his efforts to get to Vision and gain the last infinity stone he needed. However, Wanda was successful in destroying the stone, but this only resulted in Thanos using the time stone to reverse time and get the stone for himself. As Thanos put the final stone on the gauntlet, Thor's axe came down and stabbed Thanos' arm.
"I told you I would kill you. What do you have to say now?"
"You should've" Thanos paused as he grunted through the pain. "You should've gone for the head." And with that he snapped and teleported himself away.
Moments later, many of the heroes began turning to dust, one by one. Caroline stumbled out of the shrubbery to Natasha.
"Natasha. What's going on?" She asked as she hugged the assassin.
"I don't know but we'll be fine. It's okay Carebear." She replied, placing a kiss on her forehead.
Caroline looked down at her arm and started crying.
"Nat. What's happening? I don't wanna go Natasha. Please." And with that, Caroline turned to dust and Natasha was left there, Caroline's ashes staining her hands and tears in her eyes. The one girl who stole her heart and was like a daughter to her had been wiped to nothing.
Back on Titan, the same thing was happening, one hero disappearing after another.
"Mr. Stark? I don't feel so good."
"You're okay."
"I-I don't know what's going on Mr. Stark. I don't wanna go. I don't wanna go." Peter said, now crying.
"Hey, you're going to be okay. We're going to go back to Earth and you'll get to see Caroline. I know you've liked my daughter and when we get back you can tell her how you feel. And don't worry about how I feel because I'm happy about it. You make her very happy."
At this point, Tony had laid Peter on the ground. Looking at him one more time, Peter held back tears as he said his final words.
"I'm sorry."
Tony grabbed at the ashes and held his hand as he held back the tears.
"I'm sorry Tony. It was the only way." Strange said as he too turned to dust.
