Chapter Six: The Whistler
❝You're my aunt❞
✴
Ria sat by the fire as she watched Pan leave with a blank piece of parchment. "Is there anymore Lost Girls?" Henry asked as he took a seat on the fallen tree trunk. Ria shook her head, "No just me." The boy nodded, "How long have you been here?" she shrugged, "Time stands still on Neverland Henry." She let out a sigh as she watched the flames dance before her, "You seem familiar to me." Ria turned, "I'm familiar to a lot of people Henry. I'm the Whistler."
✴
Stood in a Navy blue cloak, was the Whistler. With a tin instrument in hand, she played a beautiful tune alongside the Piper. The melody seemed to draw boys in. Boys that felt lost. The Whistler swayed to the rhythm as she played. Her lips pursed as she lightly blew. Her eyes were closed, allowing herself to find comfort in the melody she had created.
She continued to play, only this time she watched as the large group of masked boys danced around, causing havoc in the small space the Piper and the Whistler had decided to claim. The Whistler's melody was higher than the Pipers, giving the music a hint of femininity, which also drew boys in. The Whistler wasn't only used for her symbolic melody, she was also used for her looks. Her sweet smile and innocent ocean eyes brought young boys in like downing victims of a Siren.
The Whistler was known all across the Enchanted Forest, well what was left of it. 'Beware the girl in the navy cloak! Beware the soft tune! Beware her sweet and innocent look! Beware!' She was known for being the Piper's accomplice. She was thought to be a land Siren. And Ria didn't mind.
✴
"Wait? You're the Whistler?" Henry asked. Ria furrowed her eyebrows in confusion, "You don't know me for my navy cloak and innocent looks?" The boy shook his head, "You're in my Storybook!" The Lost Girl stared, intrigued at where the boy was heading. "I know your parents." she hushed him. "You do?" Henry nodded, "And your sister!" Ria tilted her head, "Sister?" The boy nodded, "Twin sister!" Ria let out a sigh, "Your mom and dad, they're Snow White and Prince Charming! And your sister is my mom!" Ria smiled slightly, "That makes you my aunt." The Lost Girl's eyes became glossy. "Your family are looking for you! And they'll be looking for me! So they'll find both of us." Ria blinked away her tears as Pan approached them, "They abandoned me, Henry. My parents didn't want me because of the curse! Don't get your hopes up about your family finding you!" Without giving Henry an explanation, she stormed off, walking straight past Pan as she did so. But what Pan noticed was her eyes, the light was there again. Brighter even.
