Chapter 1

Dani's POV

'Dani Laurel get your butts out of bed before I come up there with a bucket of water!' mama Ava yells from downstairs in our big farmhouse. 'You too Sara. Down here in 5 or you are getting cold water to wake up!' 

I groan as I and I hear a knock on my door. 

I open one eye to see my twin sister Laurel walk in. 

Laurel- Dani get up, you know mama is serious about the wakeup.

I just groan in response. 

Laurel- Your not allowed to be mad...

She yanks my blanks off of the bed. I sit up and glare at her. 

Laurel- Get up. Lana and Fey are gonna be here soon to drive us to school. 

I grimace but stand up and say 'Get out' 

Laurel- Love you too sis,' She says with a smile before walking out. 

I walk over to my closet and grab a pair of ripped jeans and a long sleeve Nirvana T-shirt. 

The hair on the right side of my blonde hair was cut short close to my head with the tips dyed blue. 

I walk downstairs after brushing my hair and teeth. 

Mom (Sara just to be clear) was at the stove frying bacon and sipping coffee while Mama was drinking coffee and reading the newspaper. 

Mama- Morning, hon how did you sleep? 

Dani- Hmm coffee first, 

She laughs before handing me a warm cup of coffee. I quickly gulp it down as I munch on an apple. 

About 10 minutes later Lana runs in. 

Lana- Hey lancers how's your morning, 

The always positive raven-haired girl fixed her glasses as she took a seat at our table. 

Mom walks up and sets a plate in front of Lana that was filled with bacon. 

Lana- Thanks Mrs. Lance

Mom- Lana we told you, it is Sara and Ava no formality we have known your mom's for a long time and we are practically family. 

Lana- Fine but know I am not going to enjoy it, Sara, 

She says with a laugh. 

Fey walks in with Zari and Charlie. 

Laurel- Hey aunties, hey Fey. They do their secret handshake. I just smile at the smaller girl. 

Charlie- Hey babes hows everyone? The tall British lady says. 

Mama- Girls go get your bags you have to leave for school soon, 

Laurel- D I will grab your bag for you is it in the front closet?

Dani- Yah thanks! Lana, Fey lets go! Who is driving today?

Mama- I have to leave on a business trip in a minute, for most of today but I should be back late tonight. Zari can you take them today?

Zari- Yah I can bring them, we are meeting Alex, Kara, and Jo'nn for lunch after.

Mom- Sounds fun tell them I say hi, get going girls. 

I walk up to my Mama and give her a kiss on the cheek. 

Dani- By mama, have fun at work. 

Laurel- comes up behind me and gives Mama a big hug. 

The car ride goes by very quickly. Luckily our school doesn't have a strict dress code so we can dress however we like. 

*time skip to At lunch

I plop down at our table after grabbing food. Lana was on my right, then Matt, then Zed, Cassie, and Kelly. 

Laurel was a couple of tables away with Wally, Fey, Dick, Ellie, Conner, Mel, and Kai. I smile at my sis when she meets my eye contact. 

Cassie pushed her blonde hair out of her eyes as she says 'How is everyone doing?'

I groan and start eating. 

Kelly- That good? 

Lana- Don't talk to her before she has eaten some food or we will all have to deal with a grumpy asshole which none of us want. 

I turn and glare at her before continue eating.  

Cassie tries to grab one of my fries but I smack her hand and glare with that deathly gare that my mom gave me. 

Cassie glares back but doesn't try again. 

Kelly- Guys! The science lab got new microscopes and they are amazing! And my mom is taking me on a tour of her lab and I am pumped! 

Matt and Zed laugh at the nerdy girl. 

Lana- How is Aunt Alex?

You see Lana and Kelly are cousins they are also cousins with Conner but not the point. A lot of people are related in our group and all of our parents are friends so we spend a lot of time together. 

Kelly- She is good, she is working on getting a grant for some research she wants to do on aliens and metahumans. 

I see Lana look down at her emerald green and start fiddling with it. 

I picked up on her nervousness and slip my hand into hers and give it a tight squeeze. 

I don't look at her and just continue eating as the others continue talking. 

Lana leans over and whispers 'Thank you'  as she snags one of my fries and winks at me. 

Dani- Dork, I say as I squeeze her hand and continue eating. 

The rest of the day goes by quickly and I get a text from Uncle Ray, 

Ray- Hey kiddo your mom told us to pick you and your sister up along with Ellie. Laurel is already with Ellie so we will meet you in front of the gym. 

Dani- Okay thanks Uncle Ray, see you soon
