Chapter 23

AN: I love captain marvel so much and thank you for putting up with my bad writing!

Last time...

Laurel- That was my twin sister Dani! She is overprotective because we used to get bullied a lot and still do sometimes because of our moms.' There is a look of shock and recognition on her face. 'Some stuff happened last week before you started going here, that made her more overprotective of me and our friends. Also, Dani and her girlfriend are really in love.'

Vers- Makes sense. Now that I think about it you guys do look similar. But the question still remains is there a boyfriend in your life?

I decide to do something risky. I step forward and whisper 'Not my type babe you were right the first time babe' in her ear before stepping back and winking at her and walking toward my car and Dani. 

Laurel's POV

Dani is standing next to our car smiling down at her phone. I am guessing she is texting Lana because Lana is one of the few people who can make my stubborn sister smile outside of our family. 

Laurel- Hey sissy ready to go? 

'Yep, happy Friday!' Dani says as she looks up and nods before sending one last text and putting her phone in her back pocket. 

Dani unlocks the car and I hop into the passenger seat.

She starts the car and pulls out of the parking lot. 

Dani- Sooooooo...

I raised my eyebrow at her and say 'Sooooooo... what?' 

Dani- So who the hell was the girl you were talking to?

My eyes widen and I look at my lap as my cheeks flush red. 

Laurel- Oh her? That's Vers. She is new here and asked for my number so she could ask questions about the homework in Chemistry. She seems cool I think we could be friends. 

Dani- Friends?

Laurel- Yah is that a problem? 

I say while glaring at my sister for being judgey. I see her raise an eyebrow at me and laughs a good hard belly laugh. 

Dani's POV

Oh, my sister is whipped as hell! 

She hasn't known this girl for about 2 hours and she is already overprotective of her. 

I should talk to Lana, Conner, and Dick see if they know anything. 

Laurel's POV

After Dani stops laughing she gives me a weird look and then says 'No no problem at all. You should invite her over for dinner or something.' 

I squint at my sister trying to figure out her ulterior motive but I can't figure it out so I shrug and take out my phone. 

I see a text notification. I open it and see it is from an unknown number.  (texts will be in italics)

Unknown- Hey Laur! It's Vers,

I don't respond for a second trying to think of what to text back. I forgot about read receipts so another text comes shortly after I open it. 

 Vers- from class

I giggle at her text. 

Vers- And the hallway

Laurel- Oh that Vers!!! You know there are so many people I meet in between class and my locker. All there faces blur together a little bit. 

Vers- Oh I see how it is, I am really that forgettable. Thanks. 

 I giggle again and see my sister glance at me out of the corner of her eye but choose to ignore her. 

'More like really unforgettable' I think to my self as I text 'Super forgettable. I forgot you two seconds after we talked' 

Vers- Really haven't forgot me? Now I am sad

Laurel- Aww is the baby sad? What do I have to do to wipe that pout off and replace it with your pretty smile? 

Vers-  Oh so I have a pretty smile, do I? And  how did you know I was pouting

Laurel- Just a hunch and I could practically hear it through the text

Vers sends a pouty face emoji and then says 'Of course you had a hunch. Oh and before I forget what was the Chem homework' 

Laurels- What's that supposed to mean? 

Laurel-  He gave us a day off from homework. 

Vers- You have got to be kidding me! I spent 5 minutes working up the courage to talk to you and the excuse I used to get your number wasn't even a good one!

I laugh out loud at that and Dani says 'We are 5 minutes out from the place where the wave rider is' While giving me another side glance.

I nod and then respond to Vers by texting 'It might not have been a good excuse but it worked out really well because now I can text you all the time' 

Vers- All the time that sounds just awful! Is it really going to be all the time?

Laurel- Yep. ALL the time. It is going to be awful for you

Vers- Just awful having to talk to you. Not like your one of the only people who has been nice to me since I moved here two days ago. 

Laurel- Dani want to go too the bowling alley with our friends tomorrow?

Dani- Yah sure

Laurel- Can I invite Vers?

Dani- Yah of course

Laurel- Well why don't you hang out with my sis, some of our friends, and I at the bowling alley tomorrow. 

Vers- Sounds like fun what time should I meet you there? 

Laurel- Does 12 sound okay sissy

Dani- Sounds perfect just text the group chat the details. 

I quickly do that and then text Vers '12'

Vers- See you then
