Living With The Enemy?- Chapter 21

Leslie and Carl arrive at Negan's house and look around in amazement. Leslie says "Dang, this is a nice house. An extremely nice house." Negan says "Glad you like it little lady. They always give the best house to the leader of the community." Carl holds Leslie's hand tight. Negan walks to the living room and sits on the couch. The kids follow. Negan says "Sit down kids. We can have a little chat." Leslie and Carl sit down thinking it's safe. Judith sits on Carl's lap. Negan crosses his hands, like we do while at school, cross your hands, or fold your hands and that counts as good behavior and that you're ready for class. Negan says "Now, you guys may think that I'm the bad guy. But I am not. I kill people so they can learn their lesson for messing with me and my group." Leslie and Carl nod their  showing that they understand, they understand where he is  getting at. Negan says "Now I have a question, either one of you answer." Carl says "Alright." Negan asks "Now, those 2 people that I killed, did you know them?" Carl says "Well, We didn't really know the military looking guy." Leslie says "But...We did know Glenn, the asian guy." Negan says "How did you know him?" Leslie says "I was 9 years old, me and Carl were, when this whole apocalypse started. So, Glenn was in our group at the time, he came up to us and offered to teach us how to use knives. Then when we knew exactly how to use knives, he brought one walker to us, like he held it's arms, and we killed it. He was a good instructor." Negan nods his head. Carl says "We have seen people die and we have been separated from groups before." Negan keeps nodding his head and asks "So, I have a question for you, young lady." Leslie says "Yes?" Negan says "You stopped me from killing Carl, pretty brave thing for you to do. Why did you do it?" Leslie says "Because, I love Carl, we have been friends for years, best friends, and then we got together." Negan smiles and says "Dang, that's cute." Leslie nods her head and says "I couldn't bare to have seen him die, I probably wouldn't be here if it did happen." Negan says "Well, glad you stopped me, I couldn't kill a kid." Leslie says "I would stand up to anyone if it came to a situation like that. For Carl or Judith." Negan says "I bet you would." Carl says "Why did you bring us to your house?" Negan says "Because, I give the new people a chance to get to know me, everyone always thinks I'm a bad guy." Leslie says "I can see why they think you are. You aren't much of a bad guy because you give all these people a place to stay. You give them food and water, shelter, medicine, they can even have pets here. I would think anyone was a good guy if they did all these things." Negan says "Exactly." Enid and Sophie arrive at Negan's house. Negan looks at them and says "Well, hello girls. Glad you came." Sophie and Enid look over at Leslie and Carl. Sophie smiles and waves and Enid just rolls her eyes. Negan says "You girls can head to your room, We can talk later." Sophie smiles and says "Alright!" Sophie and Enid head to their room. Leslie and Carl are still holding hands. Negan notices and says "Lovebirds, how long have you two been together?" Carl says "Couple months." Negan smiles and says "You guys are cute together." Leslie smiles at Carl and Carl smiles back. Negan sighs. Leslie says "What's wrong?" Negan looks at Leslie and says "I had a girl like you. She was beautiful, my little princess, my light in the darkness, always put a smile on my face." Leslie says "Where is she?" Negan says "She was off with my wife one day, they both didn't come back." Leslie looks at Negan's sad eyes and stands up and hugs him. "I'm sure she is alive, and she will come back. Me and her can be friends, and I will protect her, to make sure she never leaves you again." Negan hugs her back slowly and smiles. Carl smiles and says "Ever tell something sad to her, and she will immediately hug you and put a smile on your face." Negan smiles and says "Yeah, I can tell." Leslie says "Maybe one day, I will go and look for her, I can survive out there, Carl will be with me too." Negan says "Maybe you can look for her one day." Judith hops down from Carl's lap and walks over to Negan and puts her hands on his lap. Leslie picks up Judith and puts her on Negan's lap. Negan picks her up and smiles. Judith laughs and claps her hands. "Happy! Happy!" Negan chuckles.

So Negan isn't really a bad guy, he just likes to make sure others learn their lesson. He has a soft spot for kids and teens. Will his daughter come back? Will his wife come back?
