Apocalyptic Love

Working- Chapter 47

The teens all had to wake up pretty early, 5 AM sharp. They had to be done eating breakfast by 5:30. All gather their weapons by 5:40. All get to the meeting room by 5:45. Then their orders would be assigned from 5:45 to 6:00, and only until 6. If you didn't hear what you were told to do, you wouldn't get lunch and dinner. Then they would have to be at their positions by 6:10, which they all worked in the same area. Then they would have to take a break at 12, for lunch. Lunch finished at 12:30.  Then they would keep working until dinner time which was at 5. Dinner finished at 5:30. Then they kept working until 8. Then at 8 they were able to talk until 10. They all needed to be in bed by 10:30, so then they can all wake up at 5 and do their whole routine over again. 

All the kids were working, it was about 8 o clock. Leslie was in a tight black dress holding a sniper rifle. In case anyone would step out of line, disobey their orders, misbehave, that kind of stuff, she would have to shoot them. With no hesitation, she would have to shoot them. Kelvin and Blake were at their position, at the gate watching if anyone would come through. Lia, Eliza, Queen, Alyssa, and Marie had to sweep the houses, mop, wash dishes, make sure everything was organized. They did about 20 houses a day. Hiro and Drew would have to sharpen knives and make sure guns had the right bullets. They were just in charge of the weapons in general. Sophia and Tuba were in charge of making the food and serving it to the teens and everyone else. Carl and Enid were in charge of moving boxes and wood. The girls would switch jobs. The girls always got girl jobs and the guys would have to switch and do boy jobs. 

Echo and Ron soon came along and were going to get assigned their jobs the next day. Leslie was watching Carl and Enid move some boxes. She got pretty sad that she had to watch everyone do all this work and she had to just sit around and watch. That wasn't the only thing she was sad about. Leslie kept watching. Carl and Enid set down their stuff and Carl speaks up and says "I can't believe Leslie has to just watch us. Plus, why the heck is she in a black dress?" Enid shrugs and says "Maybe it's a rule that the community must obey." Carl gets a little confused and says "I hardly see any other girls wearing it." Enid says "Oh, well then, maybe only special people wear it. Like, if you are good at your job." Carl looks at Leslie and then at Enid "Anyone can be good at her job. You just have to make sure the people are doing their job right, and that they do what they are told." Enid shrugs and says "Then, I don't know." Leslie walks up to them and says politely "Please guys, do your job. Talk later. Not trying to be rude." Carl looks at Leslie and smiles and says "Don't worry, we will. Just talking on how much longer it is until lunch." Leslie blushes a little because of his smile and says "Alright. Just don't make your conversations last long." She gets back to where she was at and continues watching. Carl smiles and Enid notices that. She doesn't really get jealous, Carl has always loved Leslie and chatted about her all the time. If he wanted to get back with her, it would be his decision. Though, it would make Enid sad. 

Later at Dinner. Leslie was busy somewhere, with some stuff is what she had said to everyone. Some got kinda sad that she couldn't always eat with them. During breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Everyone had thought it was weird. She always took her meals with her and ate somewhere else. Alyssa says "Alright, this is weird. Why does she always take her meals with her?" Marie looked at Alyssa and says "Right?! I thought I was the only one thinking that!" Tuba butts in and says "What if she moved on and has different friends?!" Queen says "Leslie wouldn't do that. She is a sweetheart and has always loved us. She has been through a lot with us and would never abandon us for some other people." Sophia says "I mean, we brought back her memory, so of course, she has to still remember us and would want to spend time with us to make up for the time she has lost." Lia says "Exactly! She wouldn't just leave us. She has always loved us!" Eliza feeds Shiva a piece of meat and Shiva gobbles it up. Eliza says "Maybe she has business with the other people. She was here before us. They probably have meetings with her and discuss what they want to do with us. Give more jobs, more food, scavenging, that kind of stuff. That's at least what I always thought." Blake says "I always thought she had another boyfriend." Carl says "I mean...we did break up..." Hiro puts his hand on Carl's shoulder "Hey, she loves you dude. She would never think someone was more perfect than you." Carl smiles. Kelvin says "Yeah, she wouldn't just stop loving you. I'm pretty sure she would think of you everyday even if she didn't remember your name." Carl says "Yeah, she probably did." Drew says "She always talked about you to me, Carl." Carl looks at Drew and says "Really?" Drew nods his head and says "Yeah, I'm kinda like the gay friend that accepts all the tea. She loves venting to me about stuff. There isn't one conversation I can remember where she didn't talk about you or at least complimented your looks." Carl laughs a little.
