Apocalyptic Love

Secrets- Chapter 7

Leslie and Carl were chatting it up with Hershel, Maggie, Beth, and T-dog. They were all having fun, just talking about how their lives were before the apocalypse. Hershel said "I used to be a farmer, with my kids and my friends. My friend Otis and his wife, and my kids, as you can see Maggie and Beth, there was also Shawn but we saw that he had died when the walkers came. Killed him right while he was in the tractor, trying to escape." Carl and Leslie are listening. Hershel says "While you guys were gone, surviving in the wild, I used to grab walkers and put them in my barn, hoping that one day there would be a cure and I could save them all. But we had to kill them, they were all shot." Leslie says "I remember hearing gunshots one time, maybe that was where it was coming from, it sounded like they just kept on firing." Carl says "Oh yeah, I remember hearing gunshots." Maggie says "Well, life on the farm was great, we had chickens, cows, sheep, pigs. They were all so cute and I enjoyed having to feed them every morning." Beth says "I mostly had to feed them too, but I also had to stay inside because they were afraid that I would get bit by a walker or something." Hershel says "She hardly knows how to fight, so we always told her to stay inside afraid that she would get eaten one day. Anyways, T-dog, what was your life like?" T-dog who was leaning on the wall says "I was a college football player, and a driver, driving people around." Leslie says "A college football player? You could have made a pretty good career out of that." T-dog says "Yeah, I could have, I was a good player, I'll admit it. Until this whole apocalypse came, I can't do much now." Carl says "Yeah, can't really do anything." T-dog looks at the kids and says "I'll tell you what. If we can find a football somewhere, I can teach you how to play. Something for you guys to do while your bored." Leslie and Carl smile. Beth says "What was your life like kids?" Carl says "Well, we were 4th graders. School was almost done for when our principal said there was an emergency so we all had to leave school. Me and Leslie rushed to my house, where we packed some food, water, medicine, weapons and ammo. Basically anything we would need to survive. We saw some walkers outside, so we had to be quiet while packing. None of the adults were with us so we had to survive on our own, luckily I knew how to use a gun. I protected me and her. It's been that way since this all started." Maggie and Beth can't hold it in anymore, they just say "Awwwwww!!!!" Carl and Leslie laugh. Beth says "That is so cute! You protect her!" Leslie says "I know how to kill walkers, but Carl still insists that he protects me." Carl says "I always hold her hand, when someone is near, when we are out scavenging, when we need to hide, I am always holding her hand, I see no shame in doing so. I do it as a sign to show her that I am still alive, that I am always going to be with her through the toughest times, through thick and thin. You name it." Everyone just bursts out saying "Awwwwwwww!!!!" Leslie and Carl laugh again looking at each other this time. Leslie looks away blushing and Carl smiles. Hershel says "Now that is just adorable. It's still pretty shocking to me that you guys survived all on your own since you were 9." Carl says "Yeah, I am still shocked myself." As Carl and Leslie talk about all the adventures they went on and their lives before the apocalypse, Lori tells Rick that she is pregnant. Rick questions it because he hasn't really done anything with her. Lori just says "I guess its a miracle baby." Rick smiles and says "I think it is." Lori says "Should we tell Leslie the secret now? We have kept it balled inside of us for long..." Rick says "She is 13 now...and I did say we would tell her when she became 13..." Lori says "Yeah, but she is so happy right now, we can tell her at a later time." Rick agrees. Leslie is happy telling the story of how her and Carl became friends. Carl says "Everyone at our school would ship us together, even the 8th graders! It used to be so funny, they always used to say things like it's because you protect her all the time, you guys are always holding hands, you guys are always hanging out, there is never a time you don't leave her side, things like that. I'll admit it, we barely leave each other's side." Leslie says "That's true." Lori walks up to them and says "Hate to interrupt guys, but I just wanted to tell you two kids that you will be sharing a cell." Carl and Leslie smile at each other. On the inside Leslie is freaking out because she has to share a bed with Carl Grimes, her crush since they were 9. Carl nods his head showing that he understands. Carl is pretty much freaking out on the inside too because he has a crush on Leslie.
