Separation- Chapter 37

It has been months since the attack on Negan's community. Pearl was 5 months. Asher was 7. Judith was 3. Leslie was feeding Pearl, Asher was eating a snack which was some chips. Judith was eating some frosted flakes. Queen says "Alright, I finished counting up how much supplies we have. We won't have much soon. We need to start scavenging some more." Leslie says "I'll go and scavenge for more. I barely go scavenging and I know some tricks." Marie says "Will it be safe for you?" Leslie nods her head and says "Yeah, and I'll come back in one piece. I know, you guys are trying to tell me no because the kids are attached to me." Every single teen says "Yeah." Leslie says "But I'll be back. I will only be gone for a couple hours." Eliza with her arms folded says "Alright. Leslie should go. We can stay here and think of plans on how to ration the supplies for now." Enid was sitting in the corner reading a book. Drew says "Yeah, we need to be smart about rations." Drew looked over at Alyssa. Alyssa was eating some tostitos chips and she says "What?" Drew just stares in another direction. Leslie gets her backpack and puts it on. She hands Pearl to Beth. Asher hugs Leslie goodbye and Judith waves while saying "Bye-Bye." Leslie leaves the house and Carl follows her and grabs her hand. Leslie looks at Carl and Carl says "Your gonna go alone...?" Leslie nods her head and says "Yeah." Carl says "Can I go with you?" Leslie says in a little sad tone "No...because you are always with me when scavenging. I can barely be by myself. Either you are always with me or I have to be with one of the other teens." Carl says "Yeah! Cause we don't want to lose you!" Leslie puts her hand on her hip and says "But Carl. You can't always be with me! I need to start scavenging by myself, someone isn't always going to be by my side, so let me go by myself. I don't always like to be watched! It always feels like I have my own personal bodyguards!" Carl folds his arms and says "We just don't want Negan to get his hands on you! Or that guy he was trying to sell you to! We can't lose more people than we already have! We have seen people die. I have seen people die! I don't want you to end up like them. Plus the whisperers are something else we have to start worrying about now! If something happened to you, I would probably lose my mind!" Leslie says "How about I test that? Let me go by myself Carl. Please...I'm begging you..." Carl says "No! Not by yourself! I don't need to go with you, but at least take one of the other teens." Leslie nods her head no and says "You are too overprotective of me! Stop being so overprotective! Nothing will happen to me!" Carl gets a little mad and says "What if something does?!" Leslie gets mad and says "You know what? I'm going by myself! I don't care what you say! I need to learn how to be solo! How to learn that not always is someone going to be with me to protect me! I need to learn how to find supplies on my own and to kill on my own! So just go with the group. I'm not apart of it anymore." She walks away. Carl says "Leslie! Come back!" Leslie keeps walking. Carl covers his face and sighs. He enters the house and falls on the ground covering his face. Hiro walks over and says "Dude...What's wrong?" Carl uncovers her face with tears in his eye and says "She is gone...She left..." Hiro's eyes widen and so does everyone else's. Enid is even in shock. Enid says "W-what? She left you?!" Eliza says "She couldn't have! What if Negan finds her?!" Lia covers her mouth and says "But she can't just leave!" Sophia sighs and says "But she was so good with the kids, now they are gonna miss her!" Marie says "Yeah! What are we gonna tell them now?!" Blake folds his arms and says "Dude, I understand why she left." Carl drops his hands down to the floor and says "I was too protective..." Blake corrects him and says "Overprotective of her." Carl sighs and says "What am I gonna do now? She might not come back..." Blake says "We can search for her tomorrow, see if she would come back." 

Leslie came back at night so she can deliver a message. Carl was awake and on the couch so he rushed to the door with his gun and saw that it was just Leslie. He pointed his gun down and put it in his holster. Leslie walked over to Carl and hugged him, Carl hugged her back rubbing her head. Leslie says "I'm gonna miss this..." Carl places his chin on her head and says "You have to stay...I can't survive without you..." Leslie pulls away from the hug and caresses Carl's cheek. Carl touches her hand and melts into her touch. Leslie then says "If we were meant to be together, we will meet again..." Carl gets teary eyed and hugs Leslie tight. Leslie hugs him back but then she leaves. Carl says "If we were meant to be, then fate will throw us back together..." Leslie leaves a note under the door saying 'Just survive somehow' Carl read it and wiped his tears away. Carl says "We were meant to be...so we will get back together..." 

Enid was listening and watching the whole time and she felt really bad for Carl. She didn't smirk or anything, she just wanted him to be happy, now he was gonna be sad...
