RHYDON

That night of the fight when we finally killed Belataire, it plays in the back of my head all the time. Mainly the part where I had held Gemma in my arms before she was taken away by her kind who swore they could save her since she wasn't entirely dead.

All of that happened 2 months ago. That was the last time we heard from them.

We didn't find out until a couple of days later when me and Corwin we're out doing our rounds and had decided to go and see her we discovered that the ones who helped her murdered.

At first we suspected it was rogues. Mostly because of the claw marks and the way they had been killed.

Ever since then I have done nothing but search for her. I haven't felt the bond or anything and both my wolf and I can't bear the pain we feel from not knowing where our mate is we're having her by our side. Not even the witches Council I know her whereabouts and have been helping my pack and I look for her.

I swear God help whoever has taken her for there will be no stopping my wrath I will release on them.

I've been in my office all day trying to go over a few things I need to approve of for few treaties and ideas the wolf council has presented to me recently of matters that involve making security better; better tactics, if you will. Then I hear a knock.

"Come in." I call out to whoever it is.

The door opens and I see it's Corwin. He walks into the room closing the door behind him before taking a seat across from my desk.

Corwin and I have been working on rebuilding our trust. Well more like ME rebuilding my trust for him after I blamed him for Gemma's 'almost death'. Although after taking a few blood tests and locking him down in the basement to detox and get out all the serum crap that Belataire had injected him with, out of his system, he has returned to himself entirely. It took a couple weeks to get that crap out of him but we finally were able to.

Even though he didn't mean what he did to Gemma and hadn't known he was hurting/killing her, I still couldn't stay entirely mad at him but a little after all she did get badly injured. Not to mention he won't stop apologizing and feeling bad to the point of blaming himself for her not being here but I try to reassure him it isn't his fault and it really isn't.

"Hey man!" Corwin says.

"Hey." I reply.

"Still no word?" He asks me about if rather or not the Witch Council have heard anything new on Gemma's whereabouts or anything.

"Nope." I say while popping the 'p'.

"Don't worry, we'll find her. Plus, she's strong and survive in the woods as she tries finding her way back."

"True." I half smile at him.

The moment I get done telling him that, somebody comes bursting through the door without knocking and I see it's one of the Omega's.

"Alpha! Alpha!" He pants and tries to quickly catch his breath.

Both Corwin and I abruptly get up and walk towards him.

"Calm down." I tell him.

"Sorry." He apologizes.

"Now tell me what's the matter?" I begin to ask.

"They came out of nowhere. A few of us were doing our job and making our rounds checking in on the others around the perimeter and right as we saw that everything looked okay, when we got to the east side, we were attacked. Four of the guys were killed." He says as he tries to hold back some tears.

Corwin and I look at each other for a moment confused and then look back at him.

"Do you think it might have been rogues?" I asked him.

"I don't know but, I don't it was a typical wolf." He admits.

"What are you talking about?" I asked him.

"Well, the way they were killed, it just, it seemed different. Then again I ran away to come back and tell you. I am so sorry Alpha if I have failed you. I'm not as strong yet and I tried fighting back but, whatever these things were, they weren't like anything I had ever seen. They moved so fast that it was hard to get a good look at them. They looked like a big blur as they ran by us." He says as he starts to cry.

I feel bad for him as he's just a kid really. So I place my hand on his shoulder for a brief moment.

"Listen to me. You aren't weak. If I thought you were, you wouldn't be part of this pack. However, I want you to take me to the bodies. I need to see." I tell him.

He looks at me confused but then nodded his head and bowed a little before I sent him out to wait for us.

"What the fuck?!" Corwin says.

"I have no idea what's going on exactly. But something is telling me that this could have been done by the same ones that attacked the warlock and witches who helped Gemma and were killed." I tell him.

"What if it is? What will we do? From what he just described, I'm not sure what the hell it could be." Corwin mentions as he expresses concern.

"Neither do I. But we would have to see the bodies anyways, it's part of our job so that we can notify their mates." I remind him.

He then nods his head and we head out and the guy begins to take us to the east side of the territory and I'm hoping I get SOME kind of clues or something from these attacks.

Sorry guys, I meant to say I was posting Monday (as in today, my time) not Sunday. Lol. You might need to reread the one before this to refresh your memory. Or if you are new to this story, you will have to read the first one called 'The Alpha & His Huntress'. Not sure if you like this first chapter or not but hope you do and give this a chance. I have a feeling if you all liked the sequel to 'The Masquerade' called, 'The Aftermath' then you might very well like this sequel too. It's gonna get better. I promise and hope you give this a chance!! Ty! :):)

Next chapter will be posted soon! :)
